Was 82 that bad? Vague memories. Don’t know if it was the same big freeze but where I come from lads drove out on the lake, brought out a small table, a couple of chairs and a chess board. I believe there’s photographic evidence.

82 was worse than 2018. serious snow drifts in north wexford. the road between gorey and courtown was blocked for a couple of days and there were a load of power cuts.

fair few flurries this morning on the dublin riviera. looking forward to SnoCoDu on Friday.

There were blizzards and big snow drifts

I got up early the first day of it pulled on my coat, mittens and wellingtons. Nobody was out so I walked up the road to where a big snow drift had blown against gable end of a house. I did what any young boy would do and ran and jumped in. I went down a couple of feet and couldn’t get out. One of the older boys heard my cries for help and fished me out.

It’s one of my early memories of being in over my head.

Where I am now all roads were blocked for a few days in 2018. Sunday was the first day one of the roads was cleared, few days later before the other one was. There was still snow visible a few weeks after.
