I know someone like this. For years I thought he was a mastermind, then I realised there is a thin line between genius and insanity…

The 1851 fact piqued my interest.

Looks like it was wrong

By 1870 Britain had about 13,500 miles (21,700 km) of railroad. At the system’s greatest extent, in 1914, there were about 20,000 miles (32,000 km) of track, run by 120 competing companies.

Is it still 20 or has a lot of that been scaled back like here?

One of the only things the bastards left us was a world class railway and we dug it up

This statistic illustrates the total length of railway lines in use in the United Kingdom (UK) between 1990 and 2018, in kilometers. In the period of consideration, the railway network
length presented a trend of decline. The peak was recorded in 1995, when UK’s railway network had a length of over 17,000 kilometers. By 2017, usable rail network in the United Kingdom declined to roughly 16,300 kilometers. This value decreased to 16,294 kilometers in 2018.

So less than it was in 1870. Flattys trainspotter might be genuine

I wondered was it wild swimmers. They were being very coy with the details. That’s awful. Said they were seriously unwell.

The missus went to London with the daughter for the weekend. They were meant to be flying back from Stanstead to Cork. God knows when they’ll get home. Stanstead is closed until at least Tuesday.

-5 here.

A toasty 22c here - I’m in the scratcher.

68% of reindents in old people homes are lads that slipped on ice. Will you please consider missing mass in the morning?

That looks absolutely balmy compared to Cork. Cork is very cold.
