The Weather Thread

In fairness to her… Galway is getting a fair pummeling tonight. Roads flooded, houses flooded and no let up in the rain.

Why the fuck she could ramble down to Seapoint bingo hall and record it from there… we’ll never know. bint.

Whah? Speak up will ya.

Calm & Dry in South Galway.

Going to meet Santy at 10am the far side of Loughrea. Going to be some crack getting there. Getting to Gort will be the first leg of the battle.

Calm in the lower harbour

bad incident today down here. 4 teenagers swept out by a freak wave when near rocks at hook lighthouse. From what I know of it, they were a scout group down from Dublin. 2 of them got out, and the other 2 rescued by the rescue chopper. A 15 year old girl is in a critical condition in Waterford. The weather here today was absolutely fine too, barely any wind and was nothing like the last couple of days. Not to say that any of the above makes any difference to some comments I have seen on social media. guys in Galway swimming in storm = next accident reported with teenagers, sea, and rescued, regardless of context. An unfortunate accident, no doubt, but they were, from what I heard, with their scout team and the weather was calm. Those freak waves there can happen at any time.

Irish people (especially meteorologists) have no appreciation of what real weather is like. A little bit of wind and more rain than usual, and they declare a storm and a red warning. That was nothing over the weekend, absolutely nothing. The storm of Feb 2014 was twice as powerful and did much greater damage, but they didn’t go naming that. Then you get eejits complaining about the cold - it’s 12 degrees outside and the mildest December in 30 years.

Think they’ve only started naming the storms this year.

We got a months rain in one day. Just because it wasn’t that windy doesn’t mean it wasn’t that bad.

A lad from ISIS held up Forster St, other than that just another night

You’re an odd sort of cunt at the best of times, but what the fuck has crawled up your hole these past few days?

Is that storm Darwin you are on about?
