The Weather Thread

Drove back in there from Trim this morning - the M4 is in a terrible state.

There is a sheet of ice just around the Leixlip turn off so take care.

Out the M50 there as well and not a sign of sand or grit anyway.

In fairness the whole London Bus network was ground to a halt during last years February snow.

Just drove from raheny to cabra, the roads are feicin leathal. Where the hell are the gritters?

True Ben, but they still have an extensive underground network to keep some movement going. How are retailers in Dublin city centre supposed to keep going when people can’t even get into the city during prime sales time? Any trip around rural England, you can see boxes of grit (imported from Ireland by the way) on the roadside at the crest of a hill or in a black spot area, shovelled out by the local council workers in times of frost. We don’t seem to be even able to grit our main arteries. I drove the length of the N7 on St Stephen’s morning, not a bit of gritting done on arguably the most important road in the country. Shambles of a country this.

as i already said… heard this morning that dublin county council have run out of grit. what a fucking JOKE

The Luas is still going anyway, you can all get on that if you want to give money to the city centre retailers.

The Luas doesn’t serve my part of Dublin. We have butlers to drive us around.

Butlers in Tallaght?

 I’m not from that hellhole!

My bogger friend(s) from rural Wexford have already ruled themselves out of tonight’s planned session because of treacherous driving conditions. Embarrassing lack of gumption.

Nearly all of which was completely suspended back in February.

Every country that doesn’t suffer from frequent snow will become a shambles in this weather. The lack of grit is a joke though.

But ben its only about 2 inches of snow.
For fucks sake its not like we are talking about serious amounts. A little bit of snow causes chaos.
Last Feb was crazy and now we are seeing the same thing happening again
Zero preparation from the muffins

Not as cold or as icy as we were expecting down here in Limerick. The weather was much worse comming up to christmas.

I’d to sleep in my car two nights ago. It was most unpleasant.

I’ve to walk down town later. Now, that’s quite a long stroll as I’m from the leafy suburbs of Wexford town and I’m not happy about this at all. Apparently a raft of boggers from the likes of Kilmore, Rathangan, Ballymitty and places like that all had to sleep in their cars in Wexford town last night as it was impossible to drive home from town after the nightclubs ended due to the heavy snow that fell for a few hours.

I’ve been there, most unpleasant indeed on a cold and frosty night. There’s nothing worse.

Having no car to sleep in?

Well, sleeping in a car…

You may as well be sleeping on the street as in the car, the only thing is you’re sheltered if there’s rain…

The car can get awful stuffy which leads of course to the eternal dilemma, the air/security trade-off.

Plenty of snowfall in Newcastle, England too:
