The Weather Thread

Clear blue sky in Galway which means we’re in for some serious shit.

Galway county council have only one more day of rocksalt left as well despite getting a shipment on Monday. Happy days.

Contrary to speculation it is snowing here in the north also.
School I work in further south has taken the decision not to open school tomorrow as we are in prefabricated buildings and its freezing. We the staff will be in school however.

I’m hearing that Dublin Bus have stopped running, any confirm? Cant get onto Dublin Bus website.

Rang a lad about buying firewood on account of the aforementioned weather. He’s selling a ‘builders bag/ton bag’ of blocks for 100 euro, and will deliver. I’m in Dublin. Is this value?

We have just been told to consider how the weather will impact our commute home and to take off early if appropriate. Load of softies racing for the door. Disgraceful carry on.

With the bus’s stopped taxi’s will be a hard find this evening I’d say.

You’re right MBB, I can see the rank outside Connolly from my window and there’s only one taxi there. Normally about ten.

You a company man tinnion?

bus’s.

That and they’ll be crawling around the place. I suppose my ten minute walk home will take twelve minutes today  fucking weather

Just got virtually the same email here. Do all of our type of companies coordinate responses or something?

Lucky you have a scarf

You know it WTB. You don’t get anywhere in this life unless you work hard, the Celtic Tiger has softened this country and led to a generation growing up with ridiculous sense of entitlement. The Celtic Tiger years were an aberration with huge rewards for doing very little, they will never be repeated.

Will obviously have to wait until some of the bona fide boggers see this for an answer?

What are pros and cons of the various fuels for open fires in terms of value, heat etc?
Have just checked the bank balance and the 100 euro may be a bridge too far.

 very lucky indeed.

People here are cacking themselves because of the snow. Very funny to watch. A good few of them are proper fucked they’ll never get home

Half the country has been frozen solid for a fortnight and struggled on, a flurry of snow in Dublin for an hour and they all head home. Fuck sake

Sticks are good for starting a fire not for sustaining one.
How many fertilizer bags full is a tonne?

How about firelighters, a couple of briquettes to start it and then coal to sustain it? does that sound like a plan?

Sticks and briquettes are pretty interchangable. So whatever floats your boat in that regard
