A mixture of coal and timber to sustain it is a better idea as coal on its own will be: A. Too hot
B. Too expensive
Will obviously have to wait until some of the bona fide boggers see this for an answer?

What are pros and cons of the various fuels for open fires in terms of value, heat etc?
Have just checked the bank balance and the 100 euro may be a bridge too far.
I don’t know gola, I’ve never paid for firewood, there’d always be a few limbs thrown around. Hard to beat Poland for their coal though.

Unbeliveable scenes.

Fellas fleeing from work,
People worried they’ll never make it home
Fellas turning to the internet to find out how to light a fire

I was given the responsibility of starting an open fire in our sitting room over Christmas.

Build from the bottom up.

 • Sticks (with enough space to throw in a fire lighter or a lit piece of newspaper)
 • A little coal to give it a bit of a kick in terms of heat
 • Turf on top to sustain in.

Bobs your uncle.

‘Firelighter’ pmsl are you sure you’re a farmer?

They’ve ran out of grit to do the City Centre roads seemingly.

What about tommorrow? Be grand to have a day off and watch a bit of the cricket.

Turf isn’t great IMO but tis cheap and it smells lovely when burning

Thanks for the replies lads. Will prob go for the coal just for short term and think about the sticks then.

What’s your alternative Julio to get a bit of life out of a fire? It doesn’t give off much heat but it burns for a long time.

I used them for the first time over Christmas. Great yolks.

We’re gettin a fair bit of it here now im starting to feel part of the unbelievable scenes, its stopped at the moment but the sky has the looks of kicking off again with more snow soon, ive a funeral to go to later, should be a cold one but i wont be lowering myself as far as wearing a scarf.

Ah no alternative really Farmer just saying I dont think they burn great, a good log (rather than a stick) gives out great heat. I wish we’d an open fire up here. Tonight would be the night for it

Women love open fires ive always found, they dont like cleaning them out or hauling in the sticks but they love the fire, gets em in a good humour.

A good pub with an open fire and a couple of hot whiskeys would be savage tonight

With a bit of snow outside and a good game of 5card goin on, ah lovely.

An outdoor open fire is the Job for the Women - I think they love all the cuddlin’ and that.

I’ve just been told to go home but we’re all off to Buswells for a few.

You lucky cunt.

Snowing again here now,and its sticking:thumbsup:

Can’t believe people have actually gone home, to be fair to the head of HR here it was like a blizzard when he sent the mail but it’s fine now. Some people.

I reckon most workplaces could cut 25% of their staff and continue to function as normal, some people are just deadweights.
