I learned a valuable lesson today. When buying a car never take the word of the previous owner that there is anti- freeze in the car. My engine went up in smoke this morning.

Ah jaysus. That is a tough lesson to have to learn. 
Would lack of anti freeze cause that? I fucking doubt it fella. I’d look into that a bit more.
Was it an old car? Hopefully you only paid small money for an 84 Datsun or something now.

I didn’t look into it too much this morning but id say it froze alright. It might be a simple thing as long as the engine isn’t cracked. The fan belt burnt off so that caused the smoke.
Id be better off with a bus pass anyway. I’ve an awful record with cars in cold weather.
Who would have thought that CIE would have been the only transport organization to perform capably in the snow. This Bus Eireann guy has the look of a real hero , telling people they’ll put on whatever buses are necessary to get people home on Christmas day.
I’ve always found Bus Eireann to be very good.
CIE used to be a right useless shower but I did a lengthy survey a couple of years ago with a kindly Englishman working on their behalf on the train from Dublin to Gorey while supping from a can of beer so hopefully this new found ethos of hard work and customer service is a direct result of my frank and sometimes scathing survey replies.
News is reaching me that DB had a Cab-Sav type fall yesterday and has damaged ankle ligaments. Thoughts with you big man.

+1 Rocko, that is dreadful news.
The weather has improved significantly in the mid-west. The snow has abated and the rain, the glorious rain, has returned.
Of less concern is the news that Larryduff suffered a similar, and probably more spectacular, fall apparently. But I think we’re all just thinking of DB at this time.
This actually happened at the end of November Rocko and the recovery process is almost complete.

That may be what you heard DB but my information is that it happened over Christmas.
It’s pouring snow in Limerick now. Ballysimon road is like a carpark.
Its been snowing in west Limerick since about 4 o clock, it’s only started sticking in the last hour though very small flakes.
