The who is going in to work versus who is (Not)WFH/taking AL tomorrow thread?

I’ll share mine, it’s fucking huge

There’s an etiquette to this to undershoot how long it’ll take. She’s said 2 and a half hours. We’re coming up on 2 now. She needs to wrap this up sharpish

I installed the Eurosport Player on my phone for this very reason . You need something to keep you occupied.

It isn’t the job of the employer to give people what they want.

Much to the forum’s disappintment my place is all for it, they were actively encouraging it prior to Covid but I was suspicious of being “available” at all hours so managed to hold off. WFH now means I no longer have to do the “avoid eye contact 5pm shuffle”.

My Mrs place is the opposite, likely the’ll want them back full time even though there’s no need. She purchasd her own monitor, keyboard etc to make herself more efficient. She got the MikeHunt head shake and eye roll when they arrived.

Nope, but they are putting the infrastructure in place for the hybrid model, discussing how it will work in practice, indicating it will happen in some form and is the way forward, but allowing wriggle room if the wider industry pivots back to the old ways.

She is now OVER TIME. This is a disgrace

It won’t pivot back. That genie is out of the bottle now. But different firms will set their own target ratios for office/home based working. Your hybrid strategy will also be part of your Employee Value Proposition (cough cough).

Depends on the stakeholders you serve. I don’t deal with external clients so I can work from an island wearing a Guineys Limerick jersey. Other colleagues do so might need to be suited and booted and Dublin based. We’re almost back to the thinking at the start of this where I told the head of HR that the choice of work model should be devolved to teams based on their needs but met pushback due to potential inequity.

Is it ironic that a lot of tech companies want staff back in the office? These are the cunts that should be best set up to wfh home. I guess some of them have long term commitments on office properties but, possibly more relevant, they want work to be the centre of their employees’ lives. Poor manipulated bastards giddily telling their insta followers they won the work table tennis competition (held in the staff canteen on a Thursday night from 9pm-10pm after they all worked until 8.30pm and ordered in some pizzas).

Barrow Street is as busy as Haddington Road on a Friday night. The Google disco.

The rules on walk-in testing are a scam by the medical profession who are prolonging the pandemic for cash. I posted about this before and was attacked by an old cranky poster. I was told to fuck off.

The lads who know what they are at answer surveys to say back to office is best but with flexibility. That way you get to keep a designated office or desk and no “hot desking” and can come and go as you want.

Nobody will be commuting for 9am after this but lads will tip in when suits them.

I’ve just arrived in my office and will WFO til 7.30pn.

That is it exactly. They will talk about the power of collaboration / idea sharing etc etc by being in the office.

once the allotted time is up, always feel free to make your excuses and exit the call

Think Plenty will refuse vaccine for some reason , the boss will then be forced to leave them WFH…

The IT geeks think sitting at home answering emails is „working”

You must have mug stamped on your forehead

Fellas that want to get back into the office, really just need to find themselves a social outlet outside of work

Anecdotally, they want to escape their family for 10 hours a day.
