The who is going in to work versus who is (Not)WFH/taking AL tomorrow thread?

I’d break you.

Nope, I just started laughing …

If I had the sense that it wasn’t going well there’d be an urge to reply in a hyper sarcastic manner.

That’s a lovely term of abuse

I was about to say the same.

He was on 120k and worked there for 16 years yet got only 19k in redundancy.

That is hardly 2 months salary

He should have nearly qualified for 2 years worth of salary closed to €250K.

They were taking the piss

Seems to be mixed reports out there. There’s plenty of examples of ones taking new space but also examples of ones leaving space. If you had short term lets, you’d have been mad not to take the chance of saving money in the short term whilst taking stock of what will happen.

My argument on this is that in that line of work that you are deluded to think you can progress without a good bit of face to face time. This is different to tech type firms who are used to remote teams and are organised differently. I would guess that 15%-20% of a professional services firm has a year or less experience and upwards of 50% have less than 3 years. It’s a different sort of model.

Depends again though. If you are happy out earning your current salary that might not continue into the future- whether that’s your employer taking the chance to put you on a regional rate or penalising you for not being a part of the culture.

Has to be more to that story …sounds like they didn’t adhere to any rules in getting him out of there…also wonder was the 120k inclusive of commission …

That would be a discretionary payment surely… Agreed it is cuntish in the extreme what they paid him but statutory redundancy is v small and that’s what they seem to have paid him to the penny

They used his basic pay only to calculate stat redundancy…he probably had car allowance and OTE in the 120k

Wouldnt have made a difference I’d say. It’s two weeks per year of service or something but capped at 600pw so any salary over say 32k or so won’t impact the sums

2 weeks per years plus 1 on top so 33 x 600 =19,600

Yep. Paid him to the penny

While his boss with 3 years service got an enhanced redundancy package … proper shithousery

I interviewed a lad on zoom - seemed grand. Slightly odd but I thought that was not unusual given the role. Bright lad but back office.

Told other lad to have second interview on Zoom just to see what he thought.

He calls me after the interview and I assumed it was to green light it.

He’s shook enough. I Wonder where it’s going.

In middle of interview he says the zoom camera starts to move and yer man moves to his bedroom.
Lays down on the bed, head on the pillow and phone over the head.

I was fearing the absolute worst but that was it.
My man was not the better for it.
