Things I learned today (Part 1)

Dilbert

Nobody on my floor at the moment (all in 20s) know how to send a fax.

Just made me feel old.

I do accept it. I just think it’s always been changing an our effect and what we can actually do about it is completely over blown, not by scientists, but by government and big business.

Alternative cycles have also been reported, as mentioned above by others. Totally unrelated to human interference.
That doesn’t make sense Kev. Where does big business benefit from this? Or governments? Business have a marked interest in low cost energy, ie burning fossil fuels. Many of not most of the biggest businesses in the world are suppliers. Most countries are completely reliant on fossil fuels for either energy or income.

The above comment is totally off the wall. It’s the opposite inference to what I would have thought any rational individual would draw.

Temperature records or what? You don’t have that much time since the industrial revolution either.

Do you work in tesco?

Do you work in tesco?
No. Secretaries were gone and just juniors in 20s around.

Is there still office juniors? Or accountant or solicitors

Kev isn’t around right now but before you go to sleep I’ll replace him by saying that what you’ve said is utter bollox and you obviously haven’t a clue what we’re talking about. I know more on the topic even though you’re more qualified than me to post on it so just don’t question me again.

But there is real data there about CO2 in the atmosphere etc. And that’s not debatable. The impact that will have can be debated but some consequences are known and indisputable.

Governments - tax, control. There is carbon taxes
Business - the same power brokers in the oil game are getting in on environmental products, and they are influencing and lobbying governments like they always have.
Insurance companies - driving up premiums in areas that have been hit by floods, hurricanes etc etc

Ya of course there is. But while related somewhat, the severe weather, rising heat, water levels, melting ice etc have all been blamed as a result of human living, which many people, more qualified than us, believe would be happening anyway. It’s real easy to put a load of images of disasters in a row and make it look like the world is imploding. Many if the facts have been distorted and now it seems some of the trends (albeit somewhat discomforting) are reversing. Like they have over recorded time.

The real tragedies and humans destroying the world for me is on the great barrier reef, in Africa, in the amazon, the ever decreasing jungles in India etc etc. not really what it’s doing to the weather.

The great barrier reef stuff is disgusting to be fair. May as well be pouring acid down on it.

Shocking. Something that has been ok’d by the government recently is going to cause more damage, my woman read me out something the other day but I can’t remember it as I was studying, but she wasn’t happy anyway.
Edit: here it is, fucking hell.

If ever a post summed you up on this board Kev then that is it

It really annoys me the way you keep referring to “my woman”. What are you - fucking Tarzan or something. Have you no respect for this person?

Something further to what has already happened, been happening. How hard is that to understand? The barrier reef has been destroyed for years, this is another nail in the coffin.

Your posts sum you up nicely Mac in this topic, seeing things in black and white, needing to pick a side, needing to have an answer, basing retorts on who the poster is and not what they say.

Jesus you are easily annoyed cranky old man. Very common use of the word where I’m from and Ireland in general I would have believed.

Sexist pig. Leave the hell hole quick before it fucks up all your morels.

Nah. I have an image of you dragging this poor girl around by the scruff of the neck.
