Things I learned today (Part 1)

True. The most famous left-handed golfer of them all is actually right-handed.

It’s a massive disadvantage in baseball a leftie can’t play shortstop or really second and third base.

What was the study showing 50%

Offset by the fact that lefties hit much better against right handed pitchers, first base is preferable for left handlers as well and outfield is the same

Not many left handed QBs @EstebanSexface, Steve Young is the best and one of the all time greats, Vick, Tebow, Stabler a few others,
Tua will be the next great

How does it effect outfield? You’d imagine catchers would want to be righties

Catchers are generally always right handed throwers though I personally don’t understand the reasoning, to stand and throw to second base it doesn’t really matter what your starting position is,
It doesn’t affect outfield positions,
I guess there’s always a place for a few left handed pitchers, first base is usually a lefty and then you have outfield, more than enough to soak up the percentage of lefties in the population especially when you consider the advantage that they have when facing a right handed pitcher

Well if the majority of hitters,as in the majority of the population is right handed a left handed catcher would have the batter in the eyeline even throwline

I thought you said above outfield was preferable for lefties?

Sorry, when I said the same I meant it was the same for both, clumsily phrased

I don’t know about your point re the catcher but I suppose it has to be something

Think about a throw to second. If a hitter was lazy about getting out of the box a left handed catcher would have to shift left or throw around them

Ireland are the only team to have gotten out of Their group at every World Cup they’ve qualified for

I get it, but it seems odd that there’s no left handed catchers in the majors, it’s probably no more than two thirds right handed batters considering switch hitters,
Would take left handed have a better chance of fielding a bunt and throwing to first??

Anyway I do get it but I’m skeptical

That’s not true. Off the top of my head Wales also did

1958 doesn’t count!
Them motherfuckers in newstalk were proudly boasting about this on air over the weekend, i was gonna use it as a quiz question, imagine the fisticuffs that could’ve caused

Maybe it’s teams who’ve qualified for more than 1 World Cup

How can you say this if you haven’t seen galaxy quest?

I’m right handed but played golf left handed…before I wised up

Irish lads getting worked up about rounders. A game so dull that without booze and folk with autistic tendancies, it wouldn’t exist.

It’s a great game, takes a bit of work though, you couldn’t follow it unless you lived there and followed every day, I couldn’t sit down and watch a game now but there was a time when I’d watch the Mets every day for 5 months, a visit to a ball park of a contending team in August or September is a great experience, playoffs are off the scale, but like anything if you don’t understand what’s going on it doesn’t seem attractive
