Things I learned today (Part 2)

He wouldn’t have seen much action in the East Waterford Brigade. One attempted ambush in 2 years. And that was a complete and utter fiasco. So bad that I’ve always suspected that the commander of the brigade, Paddy Paul was a British Agent.

The name for “terrier” comes from the Latin word for “earth” (terra) because these dogs burrow and “go to ground” to catch field vermin such as chipmunks, mice, rats, moles, voles, badgers, etc…

James Power was his name.
Might have been something to Powery.

Graveyard attached to a specific church (physically and/or symbolically) whereas a cemetery a burial ground that isn’t specific to one church? That was my vague understanding. In saying that I’ve always referred to the local “cemetery” as the graveyard

With over 1100mm of precipitation annually, Galway is the wettest city on the island of Ireland, but Limerick is the cloudiest (on average 62 days annually with no sunshine).

Do you not think it’s as likely he just didn’t want to actually kill someone, or get someone killed?

Eoin Brosnan is the current chairman of Dr Crokes. A mighty noble way to give back by a former county man of distinction.

And excellent at it too according to my man on the ground. They got 8 All Ireland hurling Final tickets. A lot of people at the club wanted them swapped into Cork for football tickets.

Brosnan maintained that Crokes are a dual club and swapping tickets does nothing to promote hurling.

My pal was one of the recipients of the 8 in the draw.

Patrick Stewart was not Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s first choice for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek TNG, - mainly because he didn’t want the role to be played by a baldie. Stephen Macht had actually been Roddenberry’s first choice to play Captain Picard, but the role eventually went to Stewart in 1986 after greatly impressing in auditions.

Actor Peter Sellers died of a heart attack on 26th July 1980. His son Michael, died of a heart attack on 26th July 2006.

Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican according to DT.

Actor Robert Patrick had trained like an Olympic runner for the part of the T-1000 in Terminator 2, even learning how to only breathe through his nose during sprints.

For the scene where John Connor is escaping on a scooter from T-1000 in the Galleria underground parking lot, they had to reshoot it three times as Patrick kept catching up with Edward Furlong.
