The term “Lent” is short for Lentil.
The term comes from Catholics having to abstain from eating meat during this period of abstinence, and so lentils became the source of protein of choice, leading to it becoming known as “lentil time”, or “Lent” for short.
Apparently it was almost called “Beano” due to beans also being a source of protein.

I watched it. It’s not great tbh. The supporting cast (Frasier’s son and the next door neighbour) are not good actors. I did watch the two seasons of it though
