Going for gold
Sir, – Well done to Eamonn Coghlan for his support of An unnamed person (Home News, June 9th). It is about time that someone of significance spoke out in her favour. She is our most successful Olympian and has been harshly treated by the public and particularly by the press and the athletics authorities.
We may never know the full story surrounding the events of that time, but as Mr Coghlan has said, she never tested positive for drugs.
She has been ostracised for too long and particularly in this Olympic year, it is time to celebrate what she achieved and invite her in from the cold. – Yours, etc,
