It’s a horrible word, overused by wankers, simpletons and students. Whatever happend to ‘having a laugh’? That’s what a real man would use, the strong silent type that Tony Soprano used to refer to. When I hear people using the word banter, it immediately renders an image of a load of tartan army sex-pests in skirts harrassing women and exposing themselves in public places.
