You do know that the shop pays transaction fees each time a card is used. Depending on the type of card it can be 30/40 cent. Thats almost 10% of your total. Do you want them to give you the stuff for free? Anyway who doesn’t have a fiver on them to pay for a few groceries?

And? It’s a business, you buy stuff, they make money. If they’re not making money out of people it’s not good business. The banks have increased charges on businesses using card machines in the last year or two by a fair chunk. Shops are not going to absorb all these increases.
