Things that continue to be right…or things that float your 🐐

Ardagh/Newcastle west would only be 15 mins away.

Also Adare.

Few fine courses there.

I dunno how lads find 4 or 5 hours to go golfing on a regular basis.

That’ll really fill.the excitement shortfall alright.

I shared a similar experience to that in Brasil… Except we played a few boys from Argentina and they utterly embarrassed us. Different gravy altogether…The shame I felt for my continent could not be understated…

It seems a lot of time but then again if you were heading off a Sunday to a league match in Nowlan Park or somewhere, you’d end up going off for a fair bit of time.

My auld lad didn’t have time to play golf til he retired at 57. The lads he worked with chipped in to buy him clubs and membership. He’s playing 20 years now. Plays on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday most weeks.

I dabbled a bit over the years but finding time was tricky. I also realised that I’d rather spend that time out on a bike or in the mountains. I think when I hit 50 I’ll go back playing a bit of golf.

I play at 7 am. 10 mins from course… would be home by 10.45 most days if in a three ball. Limits the pain

Fair time commitment alright. Getting kids playing is a right one, perfect excuse to get out

Dun Laoighaire golf course was sold for development in the mid noughties. They got a crap load of money and a new course built for them. It got held up because of one crank of a man who they ended up expelling from the club so that they could move on with things.

Good few young fellas I know have gone buck mad on it. Really got into it during Covid. Playing off low single figures.

the baileys helped “swing” that one

" In 2009, Bailey wrote to constituents in the vicinity of Dún Laoghaire Golf Club to inform them that he had submitted an objection to An Bord Pleanála concerning building development proposed for the Golf club grounds. The appeals body denied receiving an objection from Bailey. Bailey stated it must have gone missing in the post and that his bank was trying to trace the cheque for his submission fee. The Sunday Business Post and The Sunday Tribune both reported that Bailey and his daughter had received financial donations towards their election campaigns from the builders and the estate agents of the Golf Club development. Bailey assured the public that the donations had no bearing on his failure to object to the development"

It’s very questionable alright… It’s a retirement game.

There was a lodged appeal from a different man though and they had an egm to vote on getting rid of him from the club, which overwhelming they voted him out.

A very generous message in the circumstances and an absolute masterclass in making the most out of a real shit situation

He forged letters from FG HQ in 2007 advising that he should be given preference over another candidate.

In 2013 he released an pamphlet to look like a local newspaper, praising his work.

An utter, utter cunt of a man

Simon Harris is his nephew also.
