I scored 4-5 in a hurling match at u14a, my brother saw it. Mam and dad didn’t miss too many matches after that, they still bring up how happy I was that day walking into the kitchen to tell them.

Juhy Junior got sent off today in a training game for lunging into a tackle and hitting a fella at the knee. It reminded me of a sending off from my own football history, chopping the legs of a Japanese lad who was making a mockery of us. True story.

Good to be competitive but more importantly young guys need to learn to lose,
My own lad was dropped by Carrigaline premier under 13 or so- not aggressive enough, to say his world collapsed is an understatement,
Went to Avondale united never looked back , under 19 premier player now and UCC freshers team
My point is I should have prepared him for disappointment etc ref sports - I didn’t
It’s v hard to advise kids who want to win at all costs that’s it’s only a game, down to management aswell as parents,
Don’t get me wrong it still sticks in my craw and his when they lose but he works it out
On a separate note his team whipped Carrigaline’s holes the v first time he played against his old team-
And his under 19s team destroyed College Corinthians last Saturday
