Having an intuition on best ways to shorten time caught in traffic while also besting technology during a manic Christmas motor pandemonium.
Background: Circle K are doing 20c off every litre deal. Galway City is utter gridlock anyways for Christmas shopping traffic from cagers who aren’t carpooling with Rajeesh or Bjorn the intern. Today I had to be in the office to meet customers and deliver a formal presentation on 2024 Business Planning Expectations and unfortunately was stuck in our European HQ from 8.30am until 2.30pm. This was a disaster for any hopes of avoiding Bóthar na dTreabh tailback but with a bit of needle I was able to get from the Racecourse entrance to Dunnes Terryland in just 20 minutes. Then came decision time: heed the advice of Google Maps and settle in for a brutal 4th exit turn up to IDA Business Park Dangan (still 40 minutes journey time estimate) or risk it all and pony up by chancing Seamie Quirke Road. I went the latter, ignoring Alphabet Inc, and floored it over the Quincentennial. I was sat in my home office 15 minutes later after chancing Quirke-Kingston-dropoff in Old Clybaun Road-Barna route over the pussy’s route of Quirke-Dangan-Bushypark-Moycullen (cunts)-Barna Golf Club.
Result: The smugness I felt when an esteemed colleague rang me to inform me they were stuck on the Quincentennial for 30 minutes (total duration spent on a 5 mile lesser journey was double my delay) will power me through what promises to be a hectic Friday, working from home.
