Is the dump still there?

Gone with years. There’s a nature park there now.

Lovely now. I often come in the road from Dunmore and look over the view of the the back strand and wonder what the fuck the council were thinking putting a dump there. Beggars belief. I suppose it was as far as it was possible to get in the county from Dungarvan so they didn’t give a fuck.

I went away with a work crowd years ago to Tramore.

I wasn’t impressed with the place. From the rubbish dump on the beach to the folk outside of the nightclub looking for fights it didn’t paint a good picture.

It’s come up in the world an awful lot particularly in the last decade. I wouldn’t be up on the nightclub scene but there’s a thriving food culture there now. The slot machine places are a bit of a pox but they are for unemployed Dubs on the free travel with bags of coins.

This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down

Good to hear that it has improved.

He said that 3 weeks ago…

During my time in West Cork I heard tale of a free kick being blocked down by Niall Cahalane in the dying minutes of a championship game. The kick was awarded to the Castlehaven opposition in a scorable position with the chance to level the game. Kicks were still taken from the ground then. As the kicker ran up to kick the free, the nearest Castlehaven defender (another Cahalane I think the story goes) went onto his hunkers so Cahalane could use him as a spring board to leap and block the kick and 'haven went on to win the game.
As I said it was a tale of legend I heard, unsure how true it is.

Few lovely walks out there now and as you say a few good places for food.
a couple of the closed down hotels are an eye sore and the old closed down Grand hotel which looms over the town needs a lick of paint to take the look off it. Better still it could be sold to someone who could do something with it as it’s in a great location.

I played on Cahalane as a seventeen year old, that was some education

There was a hotel halfway up the hill that I thought was fantastic. Had a huge deck overlooking the ocean. Grub was decent and noted to myself be a great place for a summer evening spontaneous overnighter. Be magic to sit have pints on the deck of a summer evening

Whatever happened to the nightclub “South”

Think that’s where Splashworld is now. I’d say there was some carry on in that place in its day.

aye, was in it once or twice, Jeff Mills I think

I was never in it. I was going through a conservative period in my life when it was going.

Was at John Digweed there one night, kind of place where anything goes

I found the swim chilly today. I was staying in a good ten or fifteen minutes this time last year but about five was enough for me today. I’ll have to build the cold tolerance back up.

I was out to see Bob Geldof play there because one of the lads was supporting him.
Think it was the same night Liverpool signed Anelke. That long ago.

Actually may have been another night that happened. Was only ever in there once or twice I think. I’d struggle to recall the layout of the place and I am usually great at knowing where the bar was.
