I never found the pubs in Tramore much good at all.
We were in a pub there one evening around the centre of town. It was a bit boring so the brother in law went out for a look around. He comes back in and says there’s a great pub around the corner. So up we get and head round the corner. But the pub was busy and there were no seats for us. There was a door at the end of the bar that said ‘Lounge’ so we headed in there and ended up back in the same seats we had just got up from.
The pubs out there are very hit and miss. And what’s a good spot to go to one month / year could be totally gone off the boil the next time and the locals have all moved to another spot.
A staple of Tramore back in the day was the Vic. That died a death in recent years and closed at one stage. It’s back open again now. No idea what it’s like. Good few years since I had a right booze up out there.
Definitely going to look into it when the weather picks up.
To be fair to Tramore we were down there a few years ago and found a nice pub up the hill somewhere. It had food (couldn’t see the wife walking up that hill otherwise), craft beer and we were treated very well. Google maps tells me it might have been O’Neill’s, but I’m not sure, as I remember sitting outside.
That steep hill would put a lot of people off I’d say, if you were new to the place and just going for a pint.
Could well be O’Neills. At the corner of a junction and across the road is the church.
I heard they did it up a couple of years back and the food is very good there. I haven’t been in there since it was done up.
