Tipp v Wexford AI Hurling Semi Final Thread

Meh, juiced up monkeys swinging all about in circles isn’t proper hurling.

Ye whinged enough after Boston last year

A friendly. Ah Mike.

Here, change you’re username for the sake of the fella you took it from. At least he wasn’t a prissy little bitch.

Exact,y my point. Ye whinged like pussys after a friendly

Yeah. definitely, Tipp needed a shot of confidence this year and shaking off the flaky ‘nice hurler’ they had aqcuired was paramount for this group of players. Sheedy understood this and despite a breakdown in the Munster final, which probably had more to do with the absence of Bonnar in fairness, actually felt the need to ramp up Tipps rediscovered cynicism against Laois. I wouldn’t be surprised if Davy goes for Sheedy on the sideline this Sunday

Ah you crack me up.

Cried for 20 years and wanted an asterisk added to the Roll of honour because a free taker injured his baby finger in a pull for the ball - and there were no frees conceded in the 2nd half.

But sure that’s the same as a broken jaw caused by a shoulder in the back eight months ago.

Alan Flynn should be on that team ahead of Heffernan who was beaten up a stick by an out of form Conlon this summer. Conlon could have taken him for 6 points that day had he been in form. Doesn’t change the fact he was beating heffernan to the ball though.
Wexford will beat that team, Bubbles is not in form anymore and Noel McGrath always shys away from a battle. Unless his brother retains some form I don’t fancy Tipps chances

Im looking for a violin here. Drive on

Assuming Chin and MacDonald show the leadership they did in the Leinster final I expect they will win handy

Tipperary have a serious edge in terms of experience and tradition. This Tipperary team won’t be allowed home if they were to lose to such an inexperienced Wexford team.

I doubt you’ll have to look too hard.

I didn’t. There’s one in the holiday home in Rosslare

Wexford will be looking to avoid the wan on wans in the Tipperary full forward line cc @Bandage

The received/perceived (which one should be deleted?) wisdom is that Tipp were giving Brendan Maher a dry run as the spare defender the last day. Laois set up with a seventh defender in the way we do.

I think Heffernan will be tasked with shadowing Chin and it’ll be a case of job done if neither of them are centrally involved. Since Joe Molloy teased it out of Chin that he wasn’t working, many teams seemingly want to test his character. Heffernan was annoyingly niggly on him in the league in Thurles in 2018. Kilkenny assign Paddy Deegan to do the same when we play them these days too. Nothing violent or anything. Just constant talking, eye balling during stoppages of play, a bit of nudging and stepping on toes and such like. To paraphrase Ger Canning, I think Heffernan will reprise that role.

We’re not going to change our set up now so my fear remains that giving them the extra defender provides them with more space to launch attacks and use their superior hurling skills. They’re the type of team who can score quickly in bursts. We need to test them physically and mentally and see how they fancy it.

Tipp had to rely on a massive favor from the ref to get them going against Laois. They will employ every trick in their dirty playbook to curry favours from officials again on Sunday. It may well prove the difference

Bring it back home with you this time. You might need it again soon.

The only saving grace with that is Cleere won’t bow to them. They always get lucky with refs in Croke Park but hopefully Sunday will be different

Fred Cogley’s old man Mitchel (of Wexford extraction) ringing in the results of the day to RTE during the Rome Olympics in 1960 springs to mind. Mitchel finished up by enquiring about the score in the All Ireland Final between raging hot favourites Tipperary and rank outsiders Wexford. 2-15 to 0-11 he was told, to which he responded ‘I thought Wexford would have made a better fist of it than that’ before hanging up in disgust.

My history’s a little bit hazy Geoff, but didn’t the tipp barbarians lose the Battle of 1960?
