The Senior hurlers supposed start the 2017 season with a challenge v Galway Club champions St Thomas* in Cloughjordan this Sunday has been cancelled.

The hurlers will travel to Corrigan Park in Belfast to face Antrim on Sunday week 29th at 12.30pm.

  • St Thomas cancelled.

Don’t forget the Cuala match

This weekend?

Only heard the St Thomas was cancelled today & saw the Antrim fixture on the Tipp website.

Get it confirmed, but I heard 2PM Saturday in Laois COE.

Great to have this thread up and running again for the year ahead. Hopefully we will still have plenty positive to post about come September

What does COE stand for???

Centre of, you can guess the rest.

The old Portlaoise grounds at the back of O’Moore Park.

I though so. Its just so funny to read it.

Whatever gets you off pal.

Yurt.

Confirmed?

Match in Belfast is in honour of Fr Alec Reid who won an AI Minor with Tipp in 1949 and was joint recipient of the Tipperary International Peace Award in 1995…

Eoin Kelly has joined the Thurles Sarsfield SH management team along with former player Johnny Enright.

Looks like Eoin has hung up the boots as far as his Mullinahone hurling career is concerned.

Have you heard this @Mullach_Ide?

Did he not do his cruciate??

Haven’t heard but I doubt he is finished hurling. The fact that they are in different divisions will probably facilitate him doing both.

Draw for Senior Hurling Championship took place tonight.

ROINN 1
Group 1: Kiladangan, Borris-Ileigh, Upperchurch/Drombane, Loughmore/Castleiney
Group 2: Clonoulty/Rossmore, Drom & Inch, Portroe, Ballina
Group 3: Thurles Sarsfields, Kilruane MacDonaghs, Nenagh Eire Og, Carrick Swans
Group 4: Killenaule, Mullinahone, Eire Og Annacarty, Burgess
ROINN 2 - Seamus O Riain Cup
Group 1: Roscrea, Ballingarry, Toomevara, Newport
Group 2 (Group of 3): Templederry Kenyons, Moycarkey/Borris, Silvermines
Group 3 (Group of 3): JK Brackens, Borrisokane, Clonakenny
Group 4 (Group of 3): Lorrha, Holycross/Ballycahill, Knockavilla Kickhams

The winners of each group in Roinn 1 qualify for the Q/Fs.
2nd place teams in Roinn 1 play off with 4 divisional winners in preliminary Q/Fs for a place in Q/Fs.
4th place teams in Roinn 1 play off in 2 matches with the 2 losers relegated to Roinn 2 for next year.

Teams in Roinn 2 cannot compete in the County Championship unless they win their division.
Winners and runners up in each group will compete for the Ó Riain Cup while both finalists are promoted to Roinn I for 2018.

Two teams from Roinn 2 will be relegated to Intermediate with the Intermediate Champions being promoted meaning 28 Senior teams in 2018.

Roinn 1 looks fine and competitive for the group stages, although Sars will be strong favourites for the county followed by Drom, Loughmore and Kiladangan. Bit of a gap then with Nenagh and Clonoulty being the best of the rest.

Carrick Swan really got the short straw :see_no_evil:

He did his cruciate and word is he is slow in getting the op done

Seems unnecessarily complicated.

We are staying up! We are staying up!

Hopefully

Even less complicated than some previous ones which required a maths PhD to fully comprehend
