Tipperary GAA 2020 - The Famine Is Over - Ireland's Premier Dual County

Paddy Creedon is absolutely class at hurling anyway. Unstoppable when on form.

Forgot about that. Some joke in fairness whether they thought they’d win or not

This happens

In Kerry, Dingle won the double at under 14 level , division 1 in hurling and football. It was approx. 10 years ago. The following season they didn’t even field an under 15\16 hurling team.

A few of them stayed hurling though travelling to play with a club in North Kerry. Barry O’Sullivan was one of then and won an all Ireland b under 21 hurling medal, ended up on the Kerry senior football panel too but didn’t break into the championship reckoning.

Twas an ‘A’ final. Sure football is a simple enough owl game. Most lads in Tipp play their last game of football at minor or u21

Do Nenagh field an adult team in recent years?

They have had the odd junior team. There’s no time for it amongst the lads on the senior hurling team. The town is big enough to have numbers of lads solely interested in football, and not good enough to hurl.

Yeah, great soccer tradition in the town and a few of those lads would be decent Gaelic players, but too much season overlap now to play both seriously

After reading the things I learned post from @Fagan_ODowd ref Noel Keane, i said I’d fire this up.

In fairness to SĂŠamus, some boy to collate info.

I see Tom Larkin, centre-forward on the 1958 AI winning team passed away on Sunday. It was a fair achievement to come from a junior club and make a Tipperary team back then.
RIP.

Tipp got a good haul off that team - 8 starters one sub who played senior championship and an intercounty ref. Eoin Kelly’s voice must only have broken a few months before that and he playing county minor.

Good few had been involved the year before when they beat Galway in the final as well including Willie Maher as captain. Eoin was on the panel the previous year as a sub goalie at 15 years of age.
Good South Tipp contingent there too.

Poor aul Damien Young had no luck whatsoever, always a cunt in front of him.
He was a very fine keeper.

Never knew Gary Coppinger hurled for Tipp and I’ve often played golf with him.

One of those Tipp subs played in an all Ireland club final too…togged out for a few league games for Tipp Senior I think

Donal Shelly was some hurler. Eoin Kelly would have been u15 at the time I think?

Correct

Club man of yours ?

Kilenaule or Balingarry ?

Ballingarry

Paul Shelly was Killenaule
