Tipperary GAA 2022

Kilkenny got three in a row in 2008. Four was in 2009.

Sheedy managed Tipp in 2008. They bate Clare in the Munster final before Davy Fitz masterminded Waterford beating Tipp in the AI Semi.

Doh . Hole needed to swallow me up …

Realistically, we are the only hopes.

Will Hotpoint be on the ticket?

I was at both those. Tipp started a bolter at CF ( was it Moloney) and Seamus Butler at FF. Didnt start playing for 15 mins .

Mark Flaherty was our star player heading into that Munster final . Apart from an excellent effort with top spin from a free I don’t think he ever seriously contended again

Hugh Maloney - a back man - put in CF. Seamus Butler’s last appearance. Was hit a dunt in stomach by Waterford keeper before throw in, and barely touched a ball after. Think we were six points down after ten minutes. In hindsight, it was a blessing. That team wasn’t ready for an AI final, and certain trimming, against Kilkenny.

The young guns came in the following year with Paudie and Brendan Maher, as well as Noel McGrath starting by the AI Final.

Tipp did Bonnar dirty. What happens when Tipp dont get out of Munster next year? Will Cahill be relieved of his duties?

Why not? Tipp CB have backed themselves into a corner here*

  • assuming Cahill has a bad year, which I don’t think he will

Problem was that outside of first half against Limerick, the performance of the Tipp team was very regressive. Everyone accepted that Tipp were in a transitional period, but you must see progress/performance, even if the results are not there.

Id be pretty certain that you will see progress/performance from Tipp next year.

Very true but Colm Bonnar could well argue that progress has been achieved on the back of him blooding a lot of young players.

I’d imagine you will see progress next year, and I’ve no doubt Cahill is a better manager than Bonnar but Bonnar has been screwed here.

This whole “blooding of young players” as an excuse for performance is a pile of wank, and should never be accepted as a reason for going backwards, or stagnating.

It was the other Carr I heard.

I heard Ryan O Dwyer was approached about the Laois job, Christ I hope someone mistook him for Tommy Dunne

I don’t know, I think the circumstances are fairly unique here. Bonnar would have surely planned for having at least Paudie And Seamie both in his plans. He was left with a much younger team than he would have liked, and with a dearth of experience in championship. I don’t think Cahill would have got them out of the group last year (he didn’t manage it with a much more experienced Waterford team)

I’ve seen O’Dwyer on OTB comes across well in fairness
