Doesnât it all really hinge on whether the handshake was legally binding? If the court finds in Magniers favour it could be a big thing in the grand scheme of things regarding land law.
On all known precedent there is no way that the court finds that the handshake was legally binding but Judge Max Barrett is an absolute head the ball with a massive sense of his own intellect so he could decide anything.

Heâll give a written judgment in October. He offered to give them a decision in September followed by the written judgment if both parties agreed but the Magnier side, true to form, declined.
Judge Barrett famously wrote two 100 page judgments in a case a few years ago. One for and one against and then delivered the wrong one, which he had to then retract.

Iâd say the judiciary would surely love to floor the west Brit land Baron Magnier at some stage. This looks like a great shot. A fucking handshake.
The university of Salford seems a usual choice for a PhD no? Surely an OxBridge heavyweight would have suited the good judge a bit more?

According to that profile, he was 13 years qualified as a solicitor when he became a Hugh Coirt judge, 7 years of which seem to have been as an in-house solicitor for various financial institutions.
I read an article last weekend where Regan denied he was funding the Thomson-Moores defence, but Iâm nearly sure I read somewhere else a few weeks previously that indeed he was. I would have thought legally he wouldnât be allowed to fund their defence.
