@caoimhaoin is going to have nothing to do with cusack anymore

The thing for me is, irrespective of the rights and wrongs, he chose to give a character reference, and had time to deliberate. He was satisfied at the time that it was the right thing to do. He is now claiming it was an error solely because public opinion has swung against him. This is what gets me. If he felt it was genuinely right, he should have stuck to that in the face of a few tabloids, giving his reasoning. He is just going with the prevailing wind here.

Cusack giving it big licks about homophobia doing documentarys in Russia on RTEā€¦then he goes and backs up a child abuser.

Shocking stuff in fairnessā€¦what was he thinking.

Was he convicted when Cusack gave the reference?

Yeah, it was in the sentencing hearing

WTF? Thatā€™s fucked up ā€¦ knowingly backing a child molesterā€¦ No wonder he fled to the Costa recentlyā€¦ I should have smashed him. (In the face) getting off our flight.

Its a fucking joke.

He is done in GAA surely for a long time.

How did it all go? Are you on honeymoon now?

Cusack has done sod all wrong here and certainly done nothing to justify the witch hunt which will no doubt take place against him.

He has clearly given this statement because he knows he will be witch hunted and in the current media environment itā€™s difficult to swim against that.

Whether you like it or not, giving a character reference, such as to say that the perpetrator feels remorse for a crime, is a legitimate part of the justice system and it doesnā€™t imply that the person who files it doesnā€™t accept that the person theyā€™re making it on behalf of has committed a crime. Itā€™s quite obvious Cusack fully accepts Humphries has committed a serious crime and isnā€™t trying to stop him being put in prison.

Mick Galwey was entitled to give a character reference too, whether anybody liked it or not.

Humphries has committed a serious crime here but at least heā€™s prepared to do his time, unlike Eddie Halvey.

One has to assume this was his inspiration.

But to now run away from TH, thats just as weak and weird.

I cannot get my head around this.

Its terribly misguided at best. He probably doesnā€™t deserve the shit he will get, but fuck me, why???
No reason to feel sorry for that cunt. In a country that already is aoft on sex offenders.

We have fucking Larry Murphy free ffs, and this clown is helping reduce sentances. Just umbelievable

Character references should be abolished from Irish courts of law.

There is no need for them.

Greatest thing I ever didā€¦ Something you wonā€™t get until you do itā€¦ yeah, in a top notch resort about 25 mins outside Cadizā€¦ Eating and drinking the best of it. Cava for breakfast , Gin for night capā€¦ All you can eat in betweenā€¦ Ready to move on now to a couple of towns to enjoy some sights . Only so much of the high life you can handle.

Great stuff. Glad it was a blast

Nobody forced cusack to write it. Had he told his paedophile friend to fuck off then heā€™d be still sitting above on his high horse preaching like the smug cork he has always been.
