The story about clough calling Norman hunter a dirty bastard was hilarious…
Did you get permission from the higher-ups to eat that cheesecake?
They were too busy watching pimple poppers.
The Dunph did a podcast with Gilesey about his career a while back and put it up again recently. Gilesey came across as very money hungry.
I love popping pimples
I’ve noticed a lot of people on TFK call it football, is it an up the country or westbrit thing,
A Hurley or hurl situation?
West Brit thing i’d say… every national media outlet also refer to it as soccer.
Great to hear the young chap from Corpus Christi, Moyross, interviewed there on RTE1 , say he’s looking forward to playing soccer when he returns to school.
It’s not. I know loads of lads from Ennis who call it football, inner city Dubs too. It’s a working class anti GAA thing mostly.
Well it was proved last night on rte that it was always called soccer in Dublin anyway. Giles referred to it as that on numerous occasions. He was v interesting on how he was made a 2nd class citizen because he played soccer by teachers etc.
The soccer football argument was completely imported here in recent years from England where they have always given out about yanks calling it soccer.
Except newstalk who pointedly call both sports football
We’d called it soccer in Kilmallock anyway. “the soccer club”
Its 100% soccer for me. Same as it is in Australia and America, other countries where Football is a native game.
This was a sad reality in Dublin schools right up to quite recently. Liam Brady had similar experiences in Whitehall. I’ve always been more a gaa person but the carry on of Christian brothers and lay teachers was disgraceful. To this day large swathes of working class Dublin people remain suspicious of the GAA and it’s hard to blame them.
The Natural is on Sony Movies +1 now.Greatest baseball movie ever.
