Just finished on TG4
Oliver Callan knocking it out of the park here.
Lurching between mildly funny (15%) to downright shite (85%) but you knew that already.
I’ve switched over to Joe Donal now.
I enjoyed his Claire Byrne and his Leo Varadker. Mostly shite though
The casting of Suzie McAdam as a ten year old girl was quite funny.
Watched 10 minutes and it was mind numbing shite
I then throught to myself is this what we are reduced to as a nation that
A) this is the level of political satire
B ) a lot of people are stuck inside watching this tonight
Mrs Spidey is loving it - I’m gonna need a lawyer
You’re overthinking it… Do what Fagan did… Turn over.
Thank fuck most of the county is having a house party. This is tough going
I said I watched for 10 minutes - those two thoughts are generally embedded in me
Joe Donal was one hell of a showman.
Saw this earlier. It’s well worth catching on the player. Some amazing footage of old Dublin in it taken by Leslie Crowe, a fireman and amateur cameraman. The sort of programme Roy Curtis should be writing poems about.
Oliver Callan is a great Monaghan man.
Near GOAT
It was a really wonderful show that
A cliche but near worth the licence fee
FYP
It genuinely had me welling up by the end of it.
An amazing document of what was lost.
I learnt how the Swiss Cottage pub in Santry got its name
I watched that earlier. Great footage of Dublin in the 60s. There was a clip from Dollymount looking up to Howth. It was astounding how little development there was in Howth. Also the footage on the Howth Tram was exceptional.
There was a shot of Dublins shortest street. Canon St near St Patricks Cathedral which consisted of one building, the pub the Aviary. There was a bird market at the back of it. The street was demolished to make way for that much needed 6 lane highway.
