I’ve come around to the two Johnnie’s. Fair fucks to them. Wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but not the worst either.
I stopped there for lunch recently by accident. We were going through Cahir and it was rammed so I said this must be alright. It was only when I got inside I saw all the two Johnnie’s stuff on the walls that it clicked.
Serious roaster fare for grub but twas fairly shite now tbh. Even for what it was. Place was absolutely rammed.
Do they own it or what?
You’d wonder are they playing 4D chess?
It was so bad, you’d laugh.
Marty having a pop at Tipperary Hurling at the end… no other county in the country comes under as much scrutiny or is as associated with either Hurling/Football as Tipperary is with Hurling.
Its a very special thing.
KK and Kerry are for more associated to their respective sports I would have said. But Tipp is up there alright.
Tipperary hurling is probably the only sports team in the country you can mock openly without sanction.
It is special.
You think Kerry, you think Beaches/Mountains/Lakes as much as Football.
You think Kilkenny, you think dry, ignorant fuckers with 500 cows supplying Glanbia. Or lads playing Golf in Mount Juliet regardless of what they owe their creditors.
Tipperary? Its hurling.
They don’t own it, just drink in it. Meant to be a serious dinner there alright.
I watched this on +1 now and am disappointed with the unfunny comedians cocaine jokes.

Tipperary is one of the most picturesque counties in Ireland
It is but it never gets the credit for it because hurling dwarfs everything else when people outside think of Tipperary.
There’s a lovely flow to the landscape whereby you can see Slievanamon, the Devils Bit, Rock of Cashel and the Galtee Mountains from the same spot depending on what way you turn your head when you are anywhere in the Mid-West Tipperary region.
There was a great socio-economic piece done back in 2015 when Ireland beat Germany in a World Cup Qualifier. The winning goal was scored when the son of a US immigrant (Darren Randolph) sent a long ball up the pitch to an ex Tipperary County Minor Hurler (Shane Long) to score. Old Ireland meets New Ireland was the theme. Nothing screams Old Ireland quite like Tipperary.
Back on topic, the 2 Johnnies just wouldnt work if they were from Carlow or Longford. Being from Tipp is a massive help.
Lovely post. You just get it.
On a fine day , you can see three of those from the uncle’s garden. It’s a phenomenal view.
On a clear day from the rear field at my place I can take in Slievenamon, Galtees, Devils Bit & the Turbines in Cappawhite.
Ah lovely!
The big open squares of Templemore and Thurles are things of beauty .the hustle and bustle of Roscrea. The ambience of Tipp Town…
Tipp real has it all.
It’s the rural hills and leafy trees.
That non urban feel that does it for me…
It’s a pleasure to drive thru Tipp during the summer.
Or the boarded up streetscape of Clonmel.
Tipp town is really lovely

Tipperary and Limerick are places you drive through to get to Kerry.
