Tonight's TV - Continuation of earlier drivel

Jimmy Keaveney’s free kick taking is beautiful to watch.

Surely the Dublin in the doldrums pre-1974 spiel is well over-exaggerated at this stage. Lads talking tonight about how the odds could’ve been 1,000-1 on them winning the All-Ireland. You’d swear they were the equivalent of Longford in Div 4 nowadays.

Christ almighty…she must of blackmailed the producers to get on that…what was her input? An unbearable individual

Yes. You could only give a fisted pass before that.

I see the pair of them in at Free Palestine marches regularly. Hickey is well shook. A great man to be still fighting the good fight.

I got a picture with them with the “Dubs for Palestine” flag before the Wexford match in Parnell Park, I even helped them put it up. Paul Kimmage’s interview a few years ago with Dr. Hickey really struck a chord with me. He’s that educated, but would never allow himself to change, extremely down to earth and kind. For that he is a hero of mine. Without the cancer, he’s gone through enough strife, having lost his missus to the boat accident, but still goes out to the marches and matches. Won’t let the cancer beat him, agreat man with an exceptional story. Mickey I hear is still coaching at St. Vincent’s at 84 or that, that’s some going!

A life spent as a P.E. Múinteóir incorporating a spot of golf and GAA coaching are healthy pastimes and are relatively stress-free. Liam wouldn’t have devoted much time to footing turf or the like.

Sounds like @Julio_Geordio

Thoroughly enjoyed that show last night. I’m a little wary of next weeks instalment and reheating the Dubs/Kerry schtick. I hope they don’t and go down a different path.

Dermot Flanagan is a bit of a pain I’d say. Is he a Dub who played for Mayo?

Jesus he seemed to have a senior career with Mayo spanning 15 years all the same. Good going.

He did come across a bit like the priest who wanted the two parachutes.

Lived at the top of St Laurence’s Road Clontarf and played for Clontarf. The salt of the earth Clontarf lads ( there’s actually a few of these ) didn’t like him very much ch.

Did his father win all Ireland with Mayo ?

Yeah, think he was a TD also

Think he was captain when they won and dermotnFlanagan was captain in 89 in final against cork

I haven’t watched any of this series but I found him irritating when watching games as a child/teen. My memory is him being one of those socks up to the knees types who got roasted regularly but was a fixture on the team anyway.

He lived in Kilkenny for a good few years as well. Think his wife is from Kilkenny. Spotted him on the train a few times. He’s a Senior Counsel in the Law Library.

I don’t think he was a socks up to the knees type. He did start the 1997 All-Ireland final when clearly unfit however and had to go off after 4 minutes, which wasn’t very clever.

Mayo made about 5 changes then in every line on the field bringing on a sub to replace him.
