Tonight's TV

I thought Paths to Freedom was very good and Rasai na Gallaimhe on TG4 this year mixed drama and comedy very well.

We need to get the cunt Dave McSavage off the tv. He’s a detestable prick.

I grew an intense dislike for 2 of the main 3 protagonists we were meant to be rooting for in the second season.

Which ones?

Raymondo and Barry. Perhaps it was S03 I grew the dislike for them now that I think of it. Just don’t think subsequent seasons matched up to S01.

1 & 2 were good season 3 dragged a bit alright

I saw him and some other chick on The Cafe on Friday evening. Tommy Bowe was also on it and the chick just sat on Bowe’s lap in an attempt to be funny. It was cringe.

Oh how I laughed when I heard he got that beating a while back. Nothing fatal, just enough to knock some sense into him. It saddens me to hear it didnt work.

Cyril McDuff is a cunt of the highest order alright.

I was pissed one night and one of my mates told me he was in the boozer we were in. I went looking for him and when I found him I squared up to him and started throwing abuse at him. He didn’t have such a big mouth that time and he just left the boozer.

Don’t really remember Batchelor’s Walk but Paths to Freedom was a good effort alright. If I could venture a response to my own question I would say the population size is a real killer for comedy. In the UK, something like Black Books, Blackadder, or Fr Ted could afford to be a bit of a slow burner and gradually build up a cult following while not necessarily having major mainstream recognition. There is enough of a niche market for various intepretations of comedy to sustain something which the majority of the population might have no time for.

Here on the other hand something needs to be a fairly instant smash or it’s finished. It needs to have the kind of broad acceptance something like The Panel had or the ratings will be pathetic. I think that’s satirical shows like Don’t Feed the Gondolas, Bull Island, or The Panel tend to do the best. Satirical shows do have broad appeal and they’re not reliant on any particular segment of the market. I also think that’s why TG4 seem to produce much more interesting and unique shows in general, they’re not ever chasing that broad appeal thing and just support shows that have their own particular charm.

That’s some good analysis there WTB.

May I just point out that it’s “Bachelors Walk” not “Batchelors Walk”

Biggie Smalls, Biggie Smalls…

You lost Cyril

Did anyody watch that Dave Mc"Cunt"Savage show last night?

Twenty Major had this to say about it:

If the public sector workers went on strike to protest about this TV show then they would have unanimous support from the whole country. He makes the cunt who invented those Spar ads with Louis Walsh and Bertie Ahern look like the greatest comedy genius that ever lived.

Christ it must have been bad.

20 Major is an alright sort after that.

Vincent caught by the balls there.

He asked a school principal what he was on and he was told just under 70,000. Yer man returned the question but the bould Vincent dodged it!
