Dooher, here, fuck off with suggesting imposters.

Dooher was a fantastic footballer, some of the scores he got in big matches were outstanding and he did it regularly in big games.

The point on the sideline in the 08 AI final is one of the greatest ever All Ireland final points.

He’s currently tooling up for tonight’s visit of Bohs to the Corporation Stadium.
Hi-jinx anticipated…

The idiots here are ignorant to greatness, Dooher was the heartbeat of that Tyrone team.

I guess there’s a big difference between great players and great footballers. Gooch was a great footballer while dooher a great player.

I’d have Cavanagh, Dooher and Gormley as the most important players in those AI winning sides. Canavan was probably the key man in 2003 but was injured and not the player he was in the 90s but ultimately clutch and decisive.

Brian mcguigan was probably the best actual footballer of that team.

McGuigan had one of the best footballing minds I’ve seen. It was a shame the level of injuries he had to contend with, I think had he been fit a few of those years then Tyrone would have had one or two more.

The likes of O’Neill, Enda McGinley and McGuigan had quite a few injury ravaged seasons in their careers not to mention the loss of Cormac McAnallen.

Has @backinatracksuit been mentioned yet? I never saw him play myself but I’ve heard he could kick points in training that would make Kerrymen weak.

Over that sort of period all teams will contend with injuries. Those games with tyrone, Armagh and kerry are some of my earliest memories of football. Incredible games. Was it the replayed all ireland semi when canavan took the ball off mugsy for the free at the end? I’d remember 6 or 7 of that Armagh side as greats too and they only won one all ireland. Ronan Clarke, Steve McDonnell and oisin mcconville were all serious forwards.

Does Wooly Parkinson merit inclusion?

Declan Browne was a gifted player from one of the less glamorous counties. One of the few who was consistently accurate off either foot.

Canavan because he was a leader as well as a sublime footballer.

As far as natural talent is concerned, in my lifetime, Corkery and Ciaran McDonald would have to be up there.

They do but I think Tyrone were very unlucky in that regard. Luckily they had decent depth to survive with. McGuigan missed two years of action between 06 and 07. McGinley suffered a fractured neck, a fractured skull and torn ACL in separate incidents between the 03 final and 08 final. O’Neill also missed the guts of 2 years in 06 and 07 with injury problems that prompted him to retire at the time.

Karl Lacey was as fine of a defender as I have seen.

A cracking player. Maybe not an all time great but a serious player nonetheless.

Along with Joe McMahon he was an unsung hero in that team, he filled in various roles throughout the years and excelled wherever he played.

Midfield being his best position as I recall. I recall watching matches and consistently noting/remarking that McGinley was having yet another quality game.
