There’s a lot of Limerick footballers who could only dream of kicking as many goals as Owen O’Neill

The second half of this was as good as it gets for me, the tension was unbelievable.
The inspirational Ricey score at the 2 min mark really got Tyrone going on a purple patch when Armagh were taking charge of the game, then the finish from Stevie Mc for the Armagh goal was sublime. Kernan taking McGeeney off is one of those things I’d say he will regret for life.
he has good help from Mikey Sheehy who was operating on half a leg as well. The bomber had 2 legs though but needed them to hold him up as he was gone a bit pudgy
Agree but an annoying jinnet
Dual players?
Paidi thought that but Kerry would not have been within as asses roar of the 2000 all Ireland title were it not for the brilliance of Fitzgerald time and time again that season.
Joe Canning?
Maurice Fitz is the only non limerick man to have made either of my top threes. I couldn’t pay him a higher compliment
did Ogie Moran or Ger Power get in?!
I couldn’t have 6 limerick men lads would think I was taking the piss
Top 3’s are not satisfying. It’s a number 1 thing and that’s it. Pat Spillane was the greatest of all time, without any hesitation.
After that there are lists and lists of great players all at the same level but none of them were ever at Pats level.
Maurice Fitzgerald ( 45s off either foot, good fielder, wore every jersey from 8 to 15 for Kerry, clutch scores in big games, oozed class even when playing on some of the worst Kerry teams of all times in the 1988 to 1995 era)
Seamus Moynihan
Graham Geraghty
that my 3 and in that order
Martin O’Connell being on that team of the millennium struck me as weird. I wouldn’t have had him in the top 5 players on Boylan’s Meath team. Naturally I agree that lads choosing players they never saw play themselves is idiotic.
He was good in fairness but team of the millennium is another matter
Robbie O’Malley was a super corner back I felt.
Fitz almost single handedly won Kerry that all ireland in 97 as well. Never had near the supporting cast Spillane had for his career. Not saying Spillane was bad or anything but Fitz was the
not many dubs getting into the mix here
maybe it because they are so well balanced and Jim’s system
the best 3 from within the recent honour laden bunch
- Fenton 2. Cluxton 3. McMahon

Its a lot harder to stand out with the way the game is played now
