The Garda Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner came across as simpletons in their press conference earlier when defending the lack of Garda presence at the Regency Hotel on Friday. They went down the whataboutery route, citing other priorities / investigations and saying they’d no intelligence to suggest anything was going to happen. Meanwhile, practically every national newspaper had journalists and photographers on the scene because they knew the place would be crawling with criminals - there’s even shots of them making their getaway.

I’d say the gardai are delighted they weren’t around to spoil it. Those cunts are laughing into the guards faces everyday. The guards pick them up and they get month or two in jail with their buddies. Imagine the laughing the guards are doing now over the dead bodies.

I was speaking to a detective I know and he said up to three or four years ago they had loads on the Kinahan gang, phonetaps, busts etc. Then everything started slowly being cut. No travel to Spain to close out Operation Shovel, no overtime to tail or put known criminals under surveillance, reduced manpower in dodgy areas with the result that these boys can do whatever they want.
