dont think you would be a regular in the french set up with the likes of thuram, sagnol, lizarazu, mexes, abidal, candela and whoever else…
That Silvestre deal has gone through. Both sets of supporters appear to be unhappy - Arsenal that they’ve signed a player from Manchester United and United that they’ve sold a player to Arsenal. I don’t think he’s a particularly good player but I thought last season that lack of both experience and squad depth counted against Arsenal and he’ll add something in that regard. They definitely still need a central midfield player though.
Machester City have signed Vincent Kompany from Hamburg. Good player this guy and only 22. He fell out with Hamburg over playing for Belgium in the Olympics but I’m not sure what fee is involved. It might means Richards being moved over to right back again.
He has the makings of a smashing player. Wasn’t great with Hamburg last year and has been very injury prone from what I know of him but he’s a good signing for City.
Actually what’s the situation with all the background stuff at Man City? I missed everything and there are loads of references these days to all the off the field stuff but I haven’t a clue what that’s all about.
Arsenal have got a bargain if the 750,000 fee is to be believed…an international defender with 10 years prem experiance and 5/6 league medals under the age of 30…a steal
Arsenal want Alonso I think, they’re waiting on Liverpool to sign Barry so Liverpool will sell

No one knows whats going on with City.
The facts are that they had to borrow 2M sterling from their former chairman to pay last months wages, and that they were touting around Corluka and Ireland for a quick sale
It will all end in tears…

Alonso would be a cracking signing for them. He doesn’t seem to fit the Arsenal prototype because he’s not very mobile but he’s a smashing player and from the little bits I saw of him in pre-season and against Sunderland, he looks to be back to form.
Agreed on Sylvestre though. Left back or centre half with that experience is a snip at that price. He turned down Celtic the prick.

Yer man Shinawatra skipped bail in Thailand and returned to England. I believe in doing so he gave up rights of ownership to his assets and cash which the Thai government / authorities had frozen pending the outcome of his corruption trial. As a result, speculation began as to whether Manchester City would be affected by this and if his dodgy financial situation would spill over to the football club. The Exectutive Chairman that Shinawatra appointed made a public statement allaying these fears and saying it was ‘business as normal’ but, as Tipptops says, they were apparently trying to force through a few player sales behind Mark Hughes’ back the week before the season and then there was the report about the loan from John Wardle to pay wages. Now they’ve gone and signed a player for what’s likely to be a substantial enough fee so who knows what the story is?
is alonso cup tied for the champions league now though…
Maybe I have been watching a different game to you all over the last ten years but I cannot rate Silvestre. He is up there with Titus Bramble for me in the useless defender stakes.
Benitez mentioned that Arsenal are talking to Liverpool about Alonso - all I can say is don’t do it Rafa…
why don’t the gunners just go out and buy someone like Frings or Senna - a no nonsense centre midfielder…alonso is a luxury for Arsenal not a necessity…
senna’s age profile wouldn’t suit anyway…frings wouldn’t be mobile enough for wenger…neither is alonso but he is technique wise a better footballer…the likes of a mohammed diarra or toulalan would suit their style a bit more…
even though i doubt they would sell but roma’s daniella de rossi would be a smashing player in that gunners team…him and cesc would be some partnership…

thats my point…arsenal have too much of the same player…they need somebody who isn’t afraid to stick a boot in and isn’t bothered rushing forward to attack…like frings…
De Rossi would be ideal Puke - agreed with that. He has a bit of everything about him.
Tommy Gravesen is on a free now, he’d be a cracking fit.

would you stop that cunt would bearly fit through a double door…lay any money he will end up with some nobody of a football team like brondby, copenhagen or sunderland…
even worse…Leeds utd…

Healy’s muck. He couldn’t even get his game for Leeds a while back and I think they were in the old Vauxhall Conference at the time.

Seems like a good signing, he was always regarded very highly but as to whether he’ll be any good at City, I’m going to reserve my judgement citing the Daniel Van Buyten ruling of 2004.
