Travel advice Dublin

Pal needs to be at the rotunda by 1030 am Tuesday travelling from Galway.
Option of train but they’d be happier driving so the aren’t clock watching for the return. Anyone got a y advice?
Park and walk or park and transport happily

In this weather. Train and walk from heuston

What time will they be leaving to come back? Train means they have to get the luas from Heuston to o connell St anyway.
Could drive to Leixlip and get train in would be best bet. Plenty trains back out to the car then

I was home last week. The public transport times were guidelines at best. If you’ve to be there at that time, do it yourself.

I’ve a friend due soon there so your pal may muck in.

Does your friend have somebody with them that might have limited mobility? I’d get a dart in from Louisa Bridge in Leixlip to Drumcondra and stroll over. Regular services all day and you’d bayte a heap of rush hour traffic.

The Ilac Centre car park is very near the Rotunda. We always used to park there back in the day although I haven’t been in it for about 25 years I’d say.

With the weather I’d get the train. You don’t want to get get caught on a motorway in a blizzard. It’s frightening.

Preferably I’d just stay in galway…but if needs must id catch the 11am tomorrow. Sup pints until late tomorrow, take a few leisurely ones on Monday afternoon before calling it a night around 9pm . Up at 7 on Tuesday and the job’s oxo.

There’s a carpark on Parnell Street that is handy for the Rotunda. Also off street parking on some of the streets parallel to the hospital or up the hill from the hospital.

Is there parking in leixlip?

Park at Maynooth or leixlip Louisa bridge station loads of parking. Train to drumcondra or Connolly. 15 min walk from either to rotunda prob slightly more trains to and from Maynooth

Far more parking in Leixlip than Maynooth I thought? And Maynooth fills up very early

Yeah that’s true actually. I think maynooth is a bit bigger now though than it was

Just get off at Broombridge if you are taking the Maynooth commuter and get the Green Line down to the Rotunda. Door to door basically.

At the time you are coming in the traffic will have cleared. If you are coming from the West come in along the quays as far as the Morrison Hotel turn left onto Swifts Row/Jervis St and park in the Jervis St car park on your right just after the junction with Abbey St. You’ll be a comfortable 10 minute walk from the Rotunda and it will be easy enough get away West from there afterwards.

Neither are a short walk in freezing rain or snow.

Yep but if you use Leixlip make sure to use Louisa because that has the bigger carpark. Maynooth fills up fast. There’s two stops in Leixlip funnily enough but the Confey one has limited parking. Louisa is an apcoa spot too so don’t chance not paying parking.

Don’t mind scuttering around with park and ride. @Fagan_ODowd option above is spot on. I would recommend brunch or lunch for your mate in The Kingfisher cafe across the road from the Rotunda. Old school caff.

Do the junkies still use the vinegar bottles in the Kingfisher to rinse their needles?
