Similar to the profitable selections 2012 thread (the most profitable thread ever seen in a calender year on the internet) I will be posting the best bets for the duration of the 6 nations rugby tournament. As usual please do not abuse from the outset, you can mock me and throw stale fruit if things go south. Rocko can you please make sure this thread is viewable to members only, thank you.
Cymru AbĂş
I had just typed up a massive write up for my 6 tournament bets and dropped the laptop on the floor. I am absolutely seething.
Anyway I can’t do it all again so here are the bets with a quick line instead of a full write up. If you want to know more about any bet ask away.
Bet 1
Over 48.5 tournament tries, 5 points 10/11 Coral
Looks a banker to me, 46 last year was the lowest total ever with England and France underperforming (7&8 respectively) they’ll both score 10+ this year and with the Italians continuing to improve this looks a smashing bet.
Bet 2
Italy to score over 5.5 tries, 3 points 6/5 numerous
Italy are well capable of causing some of these sides trouble, they face an inexperienced French back line this weekend and should get 2+ tries on the board with a bit of luck.
Bet 3
Under 604.5 tournament points. 4 points 4/6 WHill
Another great looking bet. I’m backing overs on the tries but unders on the points I hear you say. The points tally has fallen sharply pretty much year on year since 2007, a lot of that has to do with the improvement of the Italians but also the outhalves. In '07 you had Paterson, Jones, O Gara and Wilkinson all in their prime. Now you have Sexton, solid but not world class off the tee, Farrell is not reliable, Wales have Biggar at 10 but Halfpenny will kick most, France are chopping and changing, Michalak starts this weekend for example, and the less said about Jackson and Orquera the better. Looks a 1/3 chance to me, 605 points is a massive ask.
Bet 4
Wales to finish bottom. 1 point 14/1 BWin
Grand Slam winners 12 months ago, could they finish bottom this year? Yes, possibly, certainly bigger than a 7% chance of that happening. They lost 4 times to a poor Aussie side this year, got stuffed by the Argies and thought a rugby lesson by Samoa. If they lose to us tomorrow (they should) then they will find it tough, they wont beat England in Cardiff or France in Paris and they travel to both Scotland and Italy, even if they win one of those two games they will still potentially finish bottom. A small bet as it may make one look silly but 14/1 is too big to refuse.
Bet 5
Ireland to win the Triple Crown. 2 points 4/1 numerous.
We should beat Wales tomorrow (5/4) I’d make us no bigger than 4/6 at home to England and if we win both of those about 7s on to beat Scotland. That treble works out at 100/30. 4/1 is value. We have a good a side as ever this season and should go close to winning the tournament.
Bet 6
Venditti top tryscorer 0.5 points e/w 150/1 numerous.
Young Italian Winger who plays for Zebre. He’s very pacy and a good finisher, he has already scored 2 tries in 9 caps for Italy and should get a few chances this year. E/W terms are 1/4 first 4 so if he scores 3 tries then you will be expecting to collect in some shape or form. 150/1 looks big as he is a big threat to most back lines. Could well surprise a few, an exciting young player. Worth a bet at the price.

So this thread was visible to all from over 4 hours? Good God Rocko!
I hope it doesn’t cost TTK his new job.
The unders bet looks right. There were 538 points scored last year. The tries bet while I have taken it probably won’t come in. The tries per game has been declining year on year since 2000. Ive steered clear of the Italy tries bet, Ireland to win the TC and Wales to finish last. The Verditti bet is a good gamble 100/1 with PP.

[/quote]Woooohh there you do not know that as fact TTK!
Bet 1, if the Italians are improving that should result in less overall tournament tries mot more.
Good luck TTK. I’d be wary of the try overs also. Fr going to Twickenham and Dub and potential English dominance through Farrell at ten wouldn’t suggest huge amount of tries to me. All the others look solid, bar vendetti who I know nothing about but at those prices worth a nibble
Iv also had a few quid on Obrien at 85 and BOD at 44 for top try’s on Bfair. BOD seems overpriced to me
England should easily cover the 15 point spread against Scotland and at 11/2 for the Grans Slam they are easy money.
Declan Kidney’s superb coaching should just see Ireland over the line against Wales despite him having an inferior team to work with and I expect Ireland to notch up a reasonably successful 4 wins from 5 matches.
You simply can’t look beyond Chris Ashton for top try scorer at 9/1.
I expect Scotland to finish bottom of the table at 3/1.
Will Ireland win today? Did Wales not win the thing last year or sometime recently??
Yes but Wales are like Tipperary in that when they win anything they become completely feckless and quickly revert to being shite.
England on the other hand make the most of their talents through hard work and self-discipline, allied to their inbuilt sense of superiority instilled by their history of Empire. This is why we are at the start of a new and sustained period of English rugby dominance culminating in them lifting the Webb Ellis trophy at Twickenham in 2015.
Two or more yellow cards in the England Scotland game. 9/4 Ladbrokes.
Alain Roland has given 9 yellows in his last seven 6N matches.
He has given 2 or more 3 times in those 7.
Scotland + 15 for me and first scoring play England penalty 13/8
Wrong thread, there’s an “Average Punters Punts” thread for this shite.
Great win for Ireland and a smashing start for the bets here.
Great start there Ttk.
For the record, I’ve followed the Ireland Triple Crown bet and the Italian lad tryscorer which both represented good value. The short odds ones didn’t appeal to me. I also went in hefty enough on Ireland today at 13/10, had O’Driscoll at 10/3 to score a try at any time, and backed the great one to be top tryscorer in the tournament at 66/1. Ireland now favourites for the triple crown :strokechin:
Where you get the 66s on BOD mac? He won’t be far away
Triple crown is cracker now to be sitting on 4s to basically beat Eng. can’t see Us losing next weekend
Thanks Fagan. Nice bets there Mac, did you not go in on Wales at 14s for bottom place?
Bet 7
Italy to score over 1.5 tries v France 3 points 11/4 PP
Just a stunning price, I say stunning. It’s as short as 7/5 in a place. France don’t have their strongest side out, the Italians are no mugs and it’s never an 11/4 shot that they touchdown twice. On a sidenote, Venditti is 6s anytime tryscorer tomorrow, not a bad price against that French back line.
Coral had him at 66’s today before kick off. They obviously have a rugby trader who doesn’t like Ireland as they were best price on all the Ireland bets.
