TTK's Profitable Selections 2012

No, not in the slightest.

Strike Rate isn’t the be all and end all, those prices in rugby can be quite restrictive (10/11, 5/6) most of the time as they are handicap lines or over/under shouts. On racing I could have a 10% strike rate and still make a greater profit than rugby if I’m backing horses around the 16/1 mark.

Maybe I should post in the rugby thread more but I enjoy discussing horses more than I’d enjoy discussing rugby, I have a love for horse-racing as a sport first and then as a betting medium, my only love for Rugby is 100% betting related.

That’s unture and libelous TRE’s, I’d ask you to refrain from making such ill-informed and childish statements. I’m disappointed in you.[/quote]
Sure how else do you do your homework for these great tips?! Saying that you do a bit of reading up doesn’t suggest much.

With my knowledge of the game, with what I have seen in previous weeks, team news, team stats and weather reports.

You must have a fair amount of time on your hands to follow the array of sports you post tips on. Racing, rugby, snooker and a few more. Almost a days work to study through all them without doing a bit of reading up on opinions and reports.

All of which would involve reading up, no?

It was you who was talking yourself up over your strike rate so that’s why I mentioned it. If you enjoy discussing it so much then why are you afraid to here? Sure if we all agreed on everything it would be a boring place. We’ve all been put in our place, just like the time Puke said that the English horses would dominate the champion hurdle for years to come after Binocular won, or when Shannonsider advised Twist Magic as a certainty for the BHB Order of Merit. I gave Hurricane Fly no hope of winning the CH last year but publicly putting Chicago Grey, Junior, Carlito Brigante and Askthemaster up here as selections makes up for it.

If you expect to not have your opinions questioned then I think you’re in the wrong place.

Not really it takes me 10 minutes to find out team news, weather etc in a rugby match. I already know what I’ve seen in the previous matches involving those teams. Again it takes me less than 10 minutes to find out the h2h in snooker or soccer etc, the only sport that really involves time to study is racing, and I’ll gladly spend my long evenings going through the form. The internet is a fantastic resource, you should use it more.

Yes, of course, but not copying other peoples opinions as TRE implied.

foad you hook nose cunt mac

I find that www.espnscrum.com gives superb stats on rugby games which can be very useful for assessing points markets etc.

I don’t have a problem with that, sure I’ve been contributing to that thread for a while, but one does get tired of idiots like Dunph mis-quoting you and taking something you say completely out of context. For example the SC thing went on for weeks/months when it should have been left ages ago. One of the reasons I started this thread was because I wanted to avoid all the shite talk. I’m around here long enough to know exactly what it’s like Mac, I’m old enough and ugly enough.

very good mate

Whoosh …

I’d rather not

Bet 28

Zaarito, boylesports handicap hurdle, Leopardstown Saturday. 2 points e/w. 33/1 Spoils and Lads.

This is a tip I have been given some weeks ago and not an original TTK pick. I do however believe it has a very good chance reverting to hurdles so I’ve backed it.

Bet 29

Over 37.5 games Murray v Djokovic. 3 points. 5/6 PP (starts around 0830 hrs)

Djokovic wins the h2h’s here 6-4, however on hard court the h2h reads 4-3 Murray. Djokovic had fitness worries going into the Aus Open and although he has been very solid so far, he is sure to face his toughest task in the morning. I was nearly going to back Murray at a very big 9/4 before I noticed the bet above, neither man will win in straight sets and I’d be confident if it goes to 4 that the above bet will be successful. Expect fireworks from Murray tomorrow and a close match.

cheers ttk

Why do people get so aggressive and defensive and protective and wedded to some obscure pursuit of manliness when discussing betting?

Who gives a fuck if someone reads to acquire knowledge. There’s people who seem like they’d only be happy if someone picked a winner from standing staring in at a parade ring and noticing some horse had a shiny coat and tipped it up as a result. It’s not horse-whispering or intuition or innate knowledge that people are gambling on. I don’t understand the notion of disregarding someone whose opinion is based on stats or history or arbitrage or whatever. Nor do I understand why everyone reacts so childishly and personally to any sort of query on whether a bet is good value or not. I’ve seen a few bets on here that I think were foolish and I’d have no problem saying that. But it’s clearly all opinions and everyone is entitled to one.

That’s not to say there’s no humour or learning to be had in the debate on the merits of bets or questioning jokers when they lie about odds or bets or stakes or whatever. It’s a peculiar thing though, this need to succeed at gambling and prove some opinions are better than others.
