FOAD

Zaarito ran a laughable race, he was terrible.

Murray sure did put up a performance against Djok, bringing him all the way to 5 sets and going down 7-5 in the last, he justs lacks the sheer belief of the real starts on the circuit. The overs on total games was a winner, unfortunately Murray lost the first set before bouncing back.

Six Nations starts this weekend. A few bets for the tournament.

Bet 31

Italy to score over 64.5 points in the tournament. 3 points. 10/11. Bluesq, 888.com.

The Italians are getting better every season, their home games are against Scotland and England. I can see getting 12+ vs the French in their first game and they should cover 64.5 in their 5 games.

Bet 32

Ireland to score over 10.5 tries. 4 points. 1/1 SJ.

We will have a strong 6 nations, I think we can win the triple crown but we’ll lose to France. We have the best back row in the world, even without Drico we should have enough from our backs to go over more than 10 times in 5 games. In the last 5 years we have socred 17,9,12,9 and 10 tries. At home to Wales, Scotland and Italy we could even cover the 11 tries needed!

Bet 33

Over 51.5 tournament tries. 4 points. 10/11 Bluesq.

This looks a very, very good bet also. The quote looks very low. We should see plenty of open attractive rugby this year and I’d be very confident of this one coming in.

Bet 34

Wesley Fofana top tryscorer. 1 point e/w. 33/1. Numerous Firms.

This guy is an exciting player, he wins his first cap for France this weekend but he has been instrumental in Clermont’s impressive form in the last 12 months. He’s strong, quick and a good finisher. Himself and Rougerie are the in the center together and they know eachother well being clubmates. It could be the start of something wonderful for Fofana and I’d fancy him to get a few tries in his debut season for the international side. Each Way terms are 1/4 1-4.

Bet 35

England -7 alternative handicap. 2 points .15/8 SJ.

Amazing stat in this one, England haven’t won in Murrayfield for 6 years (albeit that includes just 3 games (of which they drew one)). Anyway it matters fuck all because I strongly think that they are going to win and win well tomorrow. Everybody has gone over the top about Scotland, yes they’re good at home, but they’re not as good as these English chaps.
The Lamont brothers, Max Evans, Dan Parks, all average joes. Up front they might have the edge. England will be looking to impress after a laclustre world cup, they barely got past the Scots in New Zealand but it WILL be different here. I’m very impressed by Stuart Lancaster’s decision to go with Farrell at 12 and Hodgson at 10, it could be inspired and I think it will work well, Foden and Ashton are better than anything Scotland have to offer in the backs. Scotland are also building this match up as a defining moment in scottish rugby, what the fuck? It’s the calcutta cup, England will have a laugh at that before winning this by 12ish.

Interesting TTK.

Could not have England at all. Hodgson at 10, a captain with one cap, six uncapped players on the bench, two uncapped players in the centre. They may well win but cannot see how anyone could make them favourites.

Fofana is exceptional, could be player of the tournament. 12 s don’t score that many tries these days though. Will be interesting to see how France play it

Fofana is a very exciting player alright DC, I hope he can go over 3-4 times throughout the tournament.

What do you think the Scots have to offer though, why are people rating them as a side? They are decidedly average. This is a fresh, young, new look England side and that should work a treat. From 1-15 they are easily better than the Scots, but in Murrayfield I’ll take them to win by just 8+.

The Scots are scutter, no real argument but their clubs are in decent form and they will be putting out a far stronger and more experienced pack. Hodgson is proven not to be up to the mark over a decade or so and I’m not sure you could have someone worse there to steer two new centres through he game. I wont be backing the scots myself but couldn’t back england at money on. You are making a wild enough claim as well when you said Eng are better 1-15.

None of the English front row would start for Scotland,or arguably any of their back row. Gray and Hamilton also a far stronger pairing in the row. Behind the scrum Eng have the advantage alright, despite their flaws

Ah yeah I know that, I already said the Scots had the edge up front, but it is only an edge, not a massive advantage.

Hodgson deserves another chance, I think it could work very well with Farrell at 12.

It’s all just my opinion though, but at 15/8, -7 looks very nice to me.

As FP would say, good luck with whatever you play!

Lads, for the eng sco game, do you actually see the ball going beyond the outhalf? I see it being won up front where I see Scotland d slightly stronger. However, backing Scotland as favourites carries a severe health warning so won’t be putting money on it.

Interesting debate. Not sure there are any circumstances I could ever back Scotland in an international.rugby match so would lean to England by default. Not expecting much from either team anyway. English backs should have the cutting edge to win it.

Cover every bet u want to have with under 2.5 tries at 10/11 would be my advice. Scotland have already printed thousands of 'Calcutta Cup 2012 winner’s t-shirts. A sure sign they’re fucked I suppose.

Decent shout, considering hey have 4 of the Sarries back line it would b a surprise were they to cut loose, Sarries have 20 tries only in the premiership and they are 2nd. In one game they scored 6 of those so bar that they have 14 in 12. Behind a much stronger pack too it must be said. Those centres ain’t used to bells and whistles

Apologies TTK, if you would indulge me for a minute, I would be grateful.

As some of you may have noticed, I have made it a pattern to bet on cards in tournaments. Win or lose it is quite entertaining to do so.
I did well in the Rugby World Cup on it. Not so great in the soccer World Cup as it is more favourable to bet overs in soccer and take pleasure in lads diving and falling over each other.
Whatever I lost on that one I was entertained enough with it enough to know I will be doing it again this summer. Albeit with better research.

Anyway, there were 64 matches in the Rugby World Cup. There were 18 yellow cards. That is 0.3 cards per game.
4 of those cards were given to 6 Nations players.

The over/under for cards in this tournament in 9.5 with most bookies.
15 matches, that is over 0.6 cards per game.

I’m pretty sure something happened before the World Cup where refs were told exactly where to give yellow cards and where not to.
My reasoning is that in the 2007 World Cup there was 35 cards. It was halved in 2011. Bookies had the over under for the world cup in the mid-thirties based on historical data.
They are doing the same thing here. I think there was 10 cards in the 6N last year.
I believe the same standard of refereeing will be applied here and there will be 5 or so cards in this tournament.

So bet Under 9.5 Cards
5/6 Ladbrokes.

Might be a good bet alright CLD, do you know how many cards there were in the last few 6 nations?

I’d be wary of backing France on the handicap today. Italys record in the first game out if decent enough and Saint Andre is a pragmatic coach at the best of times. France will win but wouldn’t be expecting a rout

Fantastic stuff cluaindiuic I wish you well with this bet and I may follow you in when the markets are revised.

I’m happy with the early tournament bets, Italy did score 12 against France and that should set them up nicely for the 4 remaining games. There were 5 tries between the first two games, about what I was expecting and Wesley Fofana capped a wonderful performance with a try of his own to get the ball rolling in his quest for top tryscorer.

Unfortunately this one fell right on the alternative handicap line although those of you that took -2 will be happy. England scrambled home in a terrible match in poor enough conditions, Scotland made it a slog as per usual but the Englishmen did well to come out on top, their obvious class showing.
