Tv Shows & Mini Series (Part 1)

I’m enjoying Deadwood, a solid 8/10 at the halfway point. My only complaint is that some of the dialogue is hard to catch and the Sky box set doesn’t have subtitles.

I’ll finally finish Gomorrah tonight I’d say, the first series was superb TV but it’s gone to the dogs and I’d be surprised if I ever watch a series three assuming they’re making one.
Looking for something good to get from the sky box sets, I’ve no Netflix or anything else.
Anybody watching Vice Principals, I’m tempting to try it out on the strength of Bill Murray giving it the thumbs up by way of a cameo.

Weirdo.

It’s gone up a notch in season 2.

Will you stop - Gomorrah is unreal.

Vice Principals is decent. Surprisingly enough the pilot was the worst episode so far IMO of the opening four I have seen. It is fairly average and nothing ground breaking but there are some funny moments. Its all about Danny McBride the main character really.

Someone here tipped me off to Oz recently, started on Sky Atlantic but its gone into the box sets there last week. Very good. Old though so hard to get used to shite picture quality but worth watching.

I watched first episode of Vice Principals and thought it was shit but just spotted Smarks comment below so might give it another go

I’m not making it up mate, I’m just not loving it anymore, it feels like they’re making it up as they go along at this stage.
I would currently rate it below The Bridge, Borgen and Braquo among foreign language Tv shows I’ve watched in recent years.

@Turenne does Mr. Robot get better after ep.2

I thought Gomarrah was good but a tad over rated… just flying from murder to murder with no character plot really… it’s great action but as a plot-line/story it’s weak enough… I wouldn’t worry about the lads giving you grief, they love the auld loud bangs and flashing lights.

I only saw the first two episodes myself of this season… it’s gone really dark and a bit weird and has lost some of the quirkiness from season 1.

You don’t like its grim realism?

I’m as real as it gets, baby.

He’s Italian don’t you know :grinning:

I never said I didn’t like the show- just that I thought it was a tad over rated and the plot/character development was weak- they are too eager to kill off everyone… if they slowed down to show us more sides to each character we would have a far more fascinating show that could offer far better social commentary on the issues being presented.

The scant regard of human life is the most hard hitting social commentary it could give you about Naples.

They can capture that and everything i’ve outlined also… It seems to me that season 1 was such a hit they flew right into season 2 on a high and didn’t quite think it through… the potential is still there for a great show but there is no need to rush it.

Last episode I watched involved Gennaro marrying that bint who sucked him off within 5 seconds of meeting him(not sure what Kevs ma would make of that) him and Pietro ‘seducing’ the bird who’s name I can’t recall, pointless shit that did nothing for the plot at all, the whole Genny in Rome thing is dumb, I don’t care for any characters and I watch it to switch off at this stage and watch some fucker get strangled or shot in the balls.

You shouldn’t care for any characters.

That is the point, stupid.
