Tv Shows & Mini Series (Part 1)

Clown.

Unlike Mad Men or whatever it’s called, Deadliest Catch is actually about real people and real issues, all unscripted and off the cuff…

You are really good with sarcasm.

What woman is giving me negative rep? Are we on a playground here.

Running Wilde is a sitcom that stars the excellent Will Arnett. Have only watched first episode and it looks decent enough so far. Arnett makes anything he’s in good imo. In this he stars as a poor lil rich boy who cant find happiness. Keri Russell is his long lost love interest who is now a crusty cunt fighting his corporation who could be the one chance for happiness. Its narrated through the voice of Russells daughter.

Worth a look.

Other notable shows back include Chuck, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother.

supernatural quiet possibly the greatest show ever is also back tonight…

Ah lovely!!!

+2

Wank is the only word for it. The thick of it is just brilliant. One of the best tv shows there’s ever been and unbelievably funny as well.

Started watching Mad Men properly for the first time. Nine episodes in. Strange how easy it is to get into. Becomes compulsive viewing very quickly. Stuff like the widespread smoking, kids being slapped, the pregnant women smoking and drinking, and the rampant sexism is very strange to watch. Really steps up a gear in ep.8 and 9 I thought. Got really dark very quickly. Lots of great lines. Probably the one that sticks in my mind is when Peggy makes the lipstick suggestion and your man goes “it was like watching a dog play the piano”

Anyone seen the second episode of Boardwalk Empire yet? Just downloaded it this evening.

I’ve watched it WTB, was ok to good, can’t really make up my mind on the series yet, think I’ll wait and let The Guardian tell me if it’s good or not.

Yeah I wasn’t that convinced by it either. Will take another two or three episodes to get what it’s about. Found some of the minor characters a bit irritating and false in the latest episode compared to something like Deadwood where they all seemed more authentic. So far it’s very much focussed on ‘capturing’ the era which is fair enough, the scenes are a bit lifeless though and the dialogue is dull at times. Shows like Deadwood, The Sopranos, or The Wire took time to develop the story as well but scene for scene they were ahead of this for entertainment value and interesting characters. Hopefully it’s a slow burner.

Keri Russell, really like the cut of her jib

fuck you kenny powers…

Could some of the more informed TV lovers confirm that Entourage,Rescue Me and True Blood have all finished their seasons. Rescue Me seemed to be a particularly short season…

Yes to all of the above. Rescue Me has one more season of 9 eps, at which point it will finish on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.

I see Lone Star has been cancelled after just 2 episodes, had heard good things and was about to download it when I read this news.

Here’s an EW list of shows cancelled before their time, some blasts from the past there, not least Briscoe County Jr

Anyone watching Nikita? Not sure its much good, Maggie Q looks good in it and its got a bit to it, but doubt I’ll give it much longer to be honest, bit too villain of the week for my liking. Oner thing though, Stan Lee just showed up in it in a cameo as a bystander which was quite amusing.

Have now watched three episodes of Boardwalk Empire, still haven’t really taken to it. Two things so far I don’t like about it:

  • the credits look like they were a complete afterthought, looks like they were filmed for about $100, rubbish compared to something like the Sopranos.
  • the accent on the Irish bird in it is terrible.

Also finished season 7 of Entourage - thought it started terribly but got better as the season went on.

Intend starting Rubicon this week if I get a chance.

Downloaded episode 4 today. Thought episode 3 was a big improvement though much of the acting remains weak and the dialogue dull. There was enough in it to suggest it will improve so hopefully it will.

Working my way through the entire Sopranos box set the last week or so. I’m over half way through season two. I’d recommend any fans of the show to go back and watch the whole thing again in sequence. It really is a masterpiece, the greatest tv series ever IMO.

Is this your first time Dunph?

I’m living alone in a city where I don’t know anyone so planning on watch The Sopranos from the beginning again to fill my spare time, probably start this week. An absolute masterpiece is right Dunph.

Halfway through season 2 - if I’m not mistaken Meadow is going through a little fat phase a that stage. She really blossoms though.

I followed the programe while it was on, Brian, but i have never gone back and watched the entire thing back-to-back like this. Ah it’s marvellous stuff.

The latest episode i watched - Christopher was shot by two young upstarts and left in a hospital bed, he fired back at them and killed one of them. Meadow is applying for colleges, Carmella ‘persuaded’ a lawyer to write up a letter of recommendation for her daughter. Richie Aprile gave Tony a gift of a coat and to his horror he found out that Tony gave it to his house-cleaners Polish husband.
