I watched it all again earlier this year. It’s magnificent alright.
Tinnion do you find the period soundtrack a bit grating in Boardwalk Empire? I find it pretty annoying and often intrusive so far. Doesn’t add to it so far anyway I reckon.

I’m just not convinced by the realism of it, the sets etc seem a bit fake and I’m not convinced by the story lines.
I just expected more of HBO, particularly with the people that were involved, I won’t write it off just yet but I’ve been distinctly underwhelmed by it so far. You have the battered wife being helped out by the gangster and a young guy trying to make a name for himself - two stories that have been done to death in countless other shows.
Where are they going with the Omar character too, I’m confused by it all so far.
Re-watching season five of the Shield - Forest Whitaker.
I’ve just started Series 1 of the Shield - good enough so far but I hope we’re not supposed to sympathise with that right-wing vigilante guy.
Yes, although he gets more likeable as it goes on. The second last episode in that series is a cracker.
Started watching Eastbound and Down the other day, great viewing, Gotta love Kenny Powers!
The criticisms you’re making could just as easily have been made about the wire tinnion. The cops trying to bring down a drug gang, the corrupt/stubborn police chiefs, the renegade copper, where are they going with the omar character? I don’t expect to see the full picture yet. What bothered me about it was the basic quality of what you were watching, scene by scene. The acting was downright poor in a lot of cases, multiple ancillary characters who were either exaggerated stereotypes or just plain annoying, the dull dialogue, and the ceaseless shitty music. The wire wasn’t like that.
As I said though episode 3 was an improvement, and things have really improved in episode 4. Both the Capone and Lucky Luciano characters look to have promise, the Capone/Jimmy storyline is starting to take shape, and there’s a better look at the political relationships between various characters. There is in general a much improved sense of realism about it. My confidence is renewed after this episode. It just might be a decent show yet.
There is still far too many characters in this programme, and if anything they are adding more on (re: the Irish in the new episode). Too many characters, too many sub-plots, too many gangs.
I don’t think so really, they are all fairly well connected really.
May have been mentioned before, but Spartacus, Blood & Sand is a fine show, kinda to my surprise.
Eastbound and Down is the worst show i have seen in a long time.
Yeah it’s very hit and miss.
Flano, Shan and dunph will enjoy that video most.
And possibly bandage.
Its just some are into that type of humour, and fair enough, i’m just not i suppose.
Currently making my way through Arrested Development for the 4th time.
Fucking brilliant. Every viewing. Brilliant. The best sitcom I’ve seen.
I think it’s awful too. Couldn’t tolerate more than one and a half episodes of it.
Really enjoyed it myself…Can’t remember a bad episode…Jeffrey Tambor is the man, on a related note, always thought Hank Kingleys was one of the most underrated characters I ever seen in a comedy
Started watching Life on Mars last last.
One episode in and already regretting not indulging in it a few years back. Quality show.
This isn’t intended as a criticism because I think it was top class television but I do think it deteriorated a small bit with the English spy storyline. Still very funny but I preferred the earlier storylines for whatever reason. Quality show though.
Watched the first two episodes of BBC’s 1980’s comedy “Yes, Minister” the other night. Very good so far.
