Breaking Bad is back Sunday
And the first episode is fucking DEADLY
Shush you…
Oh yes Mr Heckles was back as well
Magnets bitch!
Yeah it was excellent. No let up at all. I forgive you.
Great to have Breaking Bad back and that was a thoroughly enjoyable episode. Still up there on a par with the Sopranos series for me.
That was fucking sinister. Brilliantly played.
Regarding episode one…
Was it a bit easy though the way they got into a “high security” police compound undetected in a van after de-coding the electronic gates and firing paint at the cameras before using a high powered magnet to wreck the laptop inside the vault, then escaping relatively handily again?
Hey Dunph, ever hear of the term “suspension of disbelief”?
Try it sometime and fuck off out of here with that kind of talk.
I didn’t enjoy that episode.
Ever heard of a bit of realism? The series has felt very real and believable thus far, just saying.
I agree with Dunph actually.
It was a bit much. Maybe they were just injecting a bit of levity before the heavy shit starts again but the magnet thing was a bit silly on a number of levels.
The laptop thing is stranger though. Surely there’s no way Gus would have saved all this heavily incriminating footage and just left in on a laptop in his office, especially since he knew he was under suspicion.
It’s possible that there was nothing on the laptop and the piece of information they got from the torn picture actually gives the investigators an opening again.
I know, I’m only kiddin’ around. I got that too.
I just hope they don’t start making it slightly cartoonish. Along with that stunt, I could detect a whiff of the characters becoming slightly over-exaggerated versions of their previous selves in that episode but maybe that’s just me.
Certainly the case with Walt. I think Jesse and surprisingly, Skyler, are potentially more interesting stories from here on in.
I think it’s going to get very dark in this season though, it has to. I wouldn’t imagine anyone you’d regard as innocent is safe at this point.
The flash-forward thing was interesting. I wonder why they did it? It’s rarely that good of an idea. The thing of Walt having his birthday breakfast alone (a reference to the very first episode) suggests he and the family are no longer together. Whether they’re dead or not it’s hard to know at this point.
My first impressions were that this season is going to be shit. The flash-forward things can work out very well or be utter shit, it’s the latter here I’m afraid.
I still enjoyed the epsiode immensely, that was my one gripe with it.
And as WTB says, surely it is unlikely Gus would have been dumb enough to keep everything like that stored on his work laptop when he knew he was being monitored and it is far more likely that whatever the picture frame revealed is more significant. Also, wouldn’t Hank have been itching to get that laptop turned on and find out what was on it? From everything they’ve built up with his character and him being driven by this case i can’t imagine he would have just filed it away in a vault like that overnight.
I’ve watched the first 6 or 7 episodes of Friday Night Lights over the weekend.
Pretty good I must say. Does it maintain this standard over the 5 seasons?
Yes it does, gets better if anything.
Take out Sopranos, the wire, mad men and breaking bad.
What one box set/series would you recommend to someone as a must watch?
I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Carnivale’.
