TV Tonight

I’m utterly baffled. Like, if this is a shite adaption of a good book then that’s one thing, but if this is slavishly adhering to the book then how fucking bad is the book.

I haven’t watched any of the TV series yet but the book is lying above on the bedside locker half read for the last two months.

I was tipping through it back when I went on the odd aeroplane journey, back in the good auld days of international bidness. I thought it was utter dross, but it won plenty of awards.

I know nothing of the book but the series is fucking awful

I get the impression the book is popular with certain females with a certain world view

It’s absolute bollocks. Hard to believe what Lenny saw in this shite.

It is hugely popular and the poor lad from Kildare who is hugely popular with the ladies is self isolating

I suppose auld lads in their 40s aren’t the target audience :man_shrugging:

I thought the 1st two were pure shite. It was like something a leaving cert student would write. The book has to be way better,it couldn’t be as bad as the program. On another note I watched Frank last night . Brilliant show.

Its the fantasy dynamic, ugly oddball teen gets with the hero sensitive jock, throw in a bit of ‘steamy’ sex for outrage value and boom you have one half of the population hooked

Did people actually call cider red daysel?

No, it was Smithwicks

It’s excellent, great show. The Offaly/Laois accent would cut through you though

I enjoyed it. It was shown in 2005 originally, according to the credits. 15 years ago, wha? I recall watching it first time around in the company of @Cesc4 and @LetterkennyMan when we all lived together. A lifetime ago in some ways.

i used to work wed - sat , on sunday we’d drink cider and gamble all day before getting in very bad situations in the Ozone in Leixlip
i think england were playing pakistan in a test series as well
this was also the era of dont feed the gondolas and monday comedy night i think - people used to go around thinking paddy casey was good and ed byrne was funny
carl spain wants a woman was on tv also

I would have thought gondolas was a few years earlier. Brendan o Connor had a hit single where he dressed up as a priest.

DFTG was surely years earlier, 90s even? Mid 00s would have been The Panel.

The Panel
Podge and Rodge
Naked Camera

All shite
