Can the guy who ran him over not now sue burglar for the stress and anxiety that the burglar caused to him and his family? 
I see the homeowner is now talking about his shotgun as a means to defend his home. I’d say the guards won’t be long taking it off him if he carries on with that talk. Shotguns are licenced for shooting grey crows and the like, they’re not licened for shooting people, even if they are thieves.
