We played very well but that goal we conceded at 2-0 was a sickener and you could see the panic set in as soon as they scored it.

Zaniolo, Dzeko and Pellegrini were fantastic.

The Manchester United crowd have been pathetic tonight and they have been right from the start when the teams walked out.

For a team in excellent form over the last two months, with a “Manchester United man” in charge of the team, on a big European night at home, you would have expected a massive roar to greet the teams and the home crowd to try and intimidate the opponents, at least early on. It never happened and they’ve been silent all night, completely outshouted by the away support.

Old Trafford was traditionally regarded as a hostile place for European teams to go. Barcelona 1984 was probably the best example of this, when the crowd seemed to almost literally suck the ball into the Stretford End goal, but it continued to a lesser extent into the 1990s and 2000s.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïffi, backed by sporting director Antero Henrique, decided to freeze Rabiot out of first team duty when he turned down the club’s umteenth offer of a new deal.

The French side’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, supported the player. The German knows all about Rabiot’s quality and above all he has needs in midfield.

Tuchel attempted to convince Rabiot to renew. When it became clear he wouldn’t, the coach asked that he not be frozen out and the club continue to use him until the end of his deal, appealing for “professionalism” from everyone involved.
