Yeah should have said arm/hand.
The interpretation of the rule is being taken up completely wrong by officals — they are making a fuck of it and that’s why fifa are changing it.
They lost to a team with Fred and Tommy Chong
Dalot is a great bit of stuff
He had a fine game.
Bailly being taken off changed the game.
They should give an indirect free kick for unintentional handballs in the box, unless its stopping a certain goal
Owen Hargreaves on BT didn’t think it was a penalty despite the resident referee saying it was. ‘They should have more football men involved in these decisions. Players who have played the game and know where your arms can go’.
Bloody hell.
I must admit that despite sort of wanting Manchester United to win that, for the laugh at PSG as much as anything else, I’m slightly beginning to regret that they got through, because I think they’ll be very dangerous opponents in the quarter-finals, particularly if they draw another Premier League team - they’d really fancy it in an all Premier League clash. Ajax and Porto wouldn’t hold too many fears for them, and neither would Bayern Munich.
They were thoroughly outplayed over the two legs, and it was pretty hilarious how they jammed their way through, but I’d expect them to up it significantly for the quarter-finals.
Barcelona, and maybe to a lesser extent Atletico Madrid, are the only teams left who I think they’ll genuinely want to avoid and I think they could get a serious job done on them if they have to play Barcelona.
But Barcelona are by no means through themselves having only drawn 0-0 at Lyon in the first leg.
The competition has really opened up now over the last two nights.
I caught the last 20 minutes of it when I got in from walking the dog. Man U won 1-3 to advance on the away goal rule. Looked well merited from what I saw of it.
They wouldn’t bother their holes for the previous manager and now they’re all heros
PSG 1.3 Man Utd 1.6
To be expected with the penalty awarded to Man Utd and both their other goals were also in good positions after the howlers
Second legs of Champions League knock-out ties are becoming more and more mental.
Would you ever fuck off
Ferdinand was the same … as a defender he was livid with the mindset of the ref in that instance … it happened in .5 of a second - of course the defenders arms are gong to be slightly extended when jumping/ rushing … you cant have them behind your back and generate momentum also, it’s unnatural.
Anyway, FIFA have recognized that officials are making a bollox of it and are going to change the rule
That’s what they said in 2004.
Porto won the competition.
They’re still in it this time.
They were mad last season as well and Real Madrid won it so… eh…
He’s doing a very good job as a pundit. Michael Owen on the other hand is only a horsey type cunt.
Owen is a wanker.
