Once a Manc, never a Red
And a proper one at that.
I donât remember any successful big comebacks in last seasonâs competition.
There was in 2004 when Monaco beat Real Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna beat AC Milan.
Both of those teams were at home, mind, but they also had to overcome greater deficits.
Are you including Barcelona in the Arab club list? They are getting 50 million a year from the Quatari state.
The knockout stages in the Championâs League have been sensational for the last 3 seasons.
The away goals rule really makes two leg ties.
Itâs a wonderful rule.
Barcelona are a proper club who get investment from the middle east. UAE City and Qatar are clubs solely successful due to Arab murderers
Speaking of rules, whatâs the rule as regards the Top 4 race in the EPL if the sides that finish in 5th and 6th win the European Cup and the UEFA Cup?
Investment from a country profiting from slavery
Iâm going to completely bluff it here and confidently state that 4th place would miss out.
So youâd have five Premier League teams involved in next seasonâs Big Cup.
The rules of the game is still literally âdeliberate handballâ by the way. I donât know why refs are being instructed to care about things like natural position when the rules clearly state it must be deliberate handball
Barcelona werenât made what they are by Arab money. Its obviously wrong but its not the same as UAE City and QSG
Thatâs not strictly true though, mate. He was highly thought of and reasonably successful with United reserves before moving to Molde and delivering them their first ever (and second) league title. He was shite at Cardiff but that club is not exactly a club that is well run. He then returned to Molde and has done a reasonable, if not spectacular, job with them since. His impact at United is a good month or two away from being deemed as a spectacular success.
I still think United would be making a mistake giving him the job on a permanent basis mind you.
Youâre seething
Thereâs been much worse decisions than that one in recent weeks with VAR. By the way the game is reffed now, its not a horrendous decision but by the rules of the game it is
United were 100/1 to win this competition this morning. They are 8/1 now. Theyâre still a better bet than City at 13/5. City have no European tradition.
Ajax at 20/1 are a great bet. If they avoided AtlĂŠtico ( who would ate them without salt) they could beat any other team left in it.
Porto will be dangerous opponents too. They have a lovely way about them.
Anyone see Edin Dzeko tonight. That great Turkish referee send him home with his tea in a mug.
Someone would want to check in on Jim Beglin to see if he is alright. After the crowing he was doing during the first leg, Iâd say his head is mashed after that.
What is deliberate handball though?
I imagine very few players think to themsleves âoh, I know what Iâll do now, Iâll handle this ball in my own box in order to gain an advantage for my teamâ.
I can think of very few such instances. Luis Suarez in the Uruguay-Ghana World Cup quarter-final was one and saving a goal is really the only time a player would do such.
