I reckon Tim should dry his eyes and wait and see how it all pans out.
It doesn’t matter what side of the fence you’re sitting on, the simple fact of the matter is that the tories and May in particular have fucked this campaign up beyond all recognition. Mays refusal to debate publicly with Corbyn has given him free reign for the campaign and he doesn’t even have to look over his shoulder. I’m no Corbyn fan but it’s the tories complacency rather than Labours proactively that now has Corbyn in with a half decent chance of becoming an accidental.prime minister.
If the Brits had a PR system the same as we do I suspect that voting pacts would already have labour over the line
Ironic that the Lib Dems who are the most EU friendly party and making no headway at all.
Still thinks the Tories will have a decent majority but nowhere near the scale as seemed possible a few weeks back.
Corbyn had kind of grown on me as anyone who winds up Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell can’t be too bad .
Ah thats a wonderful put down.
Some things will never happen, until they actually happen, at which point they become inevitable in hindsight.
High youth turnout could be one of those things.
People thought Obama couldn’t expand the electorate in the US but he did.
People thought Brexit couldn’t happen but it did.
People thought Clinton couldn’t lose the rust belt but she did.
This doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a high youth turnout, but to write off such a possibility seems foolish to me.
And it also seems foolish to assume that pensioners will come out to vote Tory in the usual numbers this time. The Tories have given them every reason not to. They’ve also given the working classes every excuse to come back to Labour, while Labour have done a much better job than expected of appealling to that same working class.
Corbyn has the momentum and he has the excitement and enthusiasm behind his campaign, whereas the Tories are hanging on like Kerry were with 8 minutes left in the 2002 All-Ireland final.
Everything is on the table now and anything can happen. Political campaigns in general are now more unpredictable and this is now the most unpredictable UK election in decades.
A new poll shows Labour 50-33 ahead in London and Corbyn ahead of May in personal ratings.
That’s 1997 levels of support for Labour if bears out.
Sheffield is a cracking city. The pub in the station is great too if you’re ever delayed/miss the train.
Corbyn announces Keir Starmer, Emily Thornberry and Barry Gardiner as his Brexit negotiating team in the event of a Labour government. That’s a considerably stronger team than David Davis, Liam Fox and the toxic Boris Johnson.
Meanwhile, Theresa May can’t even answer a simple question about whether she watched last night’s debate.
You get a much better class of election on the mainland
I agree with you there, nothing is done yet. I just point out the double standards.
Ya been stuck in a uni all day but have tomorrow to look around.
But i was impressed on arrival. I certainly expected a bit more industrial as well.
I’m up there Saturday actually. Well a town just outside it but getting the train up via Sheffield. It’s a big city for outdoor sports i.e climbing and cycling due to its location. Right beside the Peak District. Eccleshall road and down by the university is pretty cool with some nice restaurants. I’d imagine it’s not a bad city to study in. Plenty to do.
If it’s a Tory involved, things said in the past aren’t relevant, apparently.
Typical Cork person love-in with Britain.
England is a proper country, way better than Oireland, of course the pretend ira oirish with their " we are the greatest country in the world" can’t hack that fact at all. In England if you have a nice car or house your colleagues, will say “well done, you worked hard for it” and mean it. In Oireland "they would say that but mutter under their breath “cunt” and hope something bad happens you.
May is in hiding.
Serious impartiality questions to answer for the BBC too if the second tweet is true.
eh, they voted to leave
northern england is a dump and an industrial wasteland
Manchester voted to remain.
Northerners wanted out. The majority vote out yet keV didn’t speak to one person who voted out
